Dear 14 year-old Amanda,
I see you sitting there, your smile big and brave but your eyes filled with questions. I know you’re scared. I know how your world feels like it’s crumbling under the weight of something you didn’t ask for Alopecia, the illness, the allergies it’s all a bit too much, too soon. Right now, it feels like hair loss is everything. Like it’s stealing not just your hair, but your confidence, your identity, your place in the world.
But I promise you this: it will pass.
You will walk through some dark places, yes and some people will only add to the noise in your head. But others they will help you hear your own voice again. The strong, kind, powerful voice of Amanda. And through it all, you’ll begin to realise something that will change your life: you are not defined by Alopecia.
You are not “Alopecia Amanda.”
You are Amanda. Full stop.
Bold. Brilliant. Fierce. Kind. Joyful. Resilient.
Hair loss? It becomes just one small thread in the rich tapestry of who you are. You’ll decide when or if you want to share that part of your story, because it no longer holds power over you. You will take that power back.
The bullies? You’ll outgrow them quickly, Amanda and not just because you age, but because your strength will rise above theirs. You’ll learn to see them for what they are: small, scared, and wrong. And instead of shrinking, you’ll stand taller. You’ll learn how to fight for what’s right, and you’ll do it with grace.
And oh, my girl you will do something incredible.
Hair to Ware. A space built from your scars and most importantly your strength, where people will come not just to find wigs, but to rediscover themselves. You will help them feel seen, beautiful, empowered, and valued , exactly as they are.
You will be the woman who holds her 14-year-old self in her arms not with sadness, but with pride. You’ll look back and say, “You made it girl And now it’s our job in helping others do the same.”
With all the love in the world,
Amanda (age 43!)
