The Journey of our Ceremonial Cacao 🪶
Our cacao begins deep in the Amazon rainforest with the Asháninka people, who have cared for this sacred plant for generations. Their forest gardens grow cacao naturally alongside medicinal plants and fruit trees, honoring the balance of the land.
Ripe cacao pods are harvested by hand with care, ensuring the trees are never harmed, and each pod is selected when fully mature. Once harvested, the pods are opened the same day to reveal the cacao beans nestled in sweet white pulp, which are carefully removed by hand.
The beans are then fermented for 4–7 days in wooden boxes or banana leaves. This natural process develops flavor, reduces bitterness, and awakens the cacao’s medicinal and energetic qualities. After fermentation, the beans are slowly sun-dried, preserving nutrients, flavor, and the plant’s living energy.
Once dried, the beans are cracked to separate the husks, and the nibs are stone-ground. Friction gently melts the natural cacao butter, transforming the beans into a smooth, rich paste that retains all their nutrients and heart-opening energy. While still warm, the cacao paste is poured into molds to solidify naturally, creating the full-bodied, ceremonial cacao blocks we love.
Finally, the blocks are carefully cooled, wrapped, and transported, arriving intact, pure, and ready to share their deep flavor, nutrition, and sacred energy with you.
