Today I wanted to share a moment that truly captures why care work matters so much
One of our clients, who experienced a stroke last year, has been unable to move around independently for quite some time. Recently, the NHS visited to assess him for a motorised wheelchair. Although there were challenges getting the chair into the house due to steps, our Manager Kim and Deputy Manager Kolby made sure he didn’t miss the opportunity to try it.
They helped him safely outside, transferred him into the chair, and what happened next was something really special.
The smile on his face said everything.
He was so excited—finally able to move independently again, even if just for a short time. Kim had Kolby in the other wheelchair and they were racing him down the pavement while he got used to the controls. There was so much laughter, and for that moment, it wasn’t about limitations—it was about freedom, joy, and possibility.
This new chair will mean so much more than just mobility. It will allow him and his wife to get back out into their community, visit the village, and even enjoy trips to the beach again—things many of us take for granted.
Moments like this remind us why we do what we do. It’s not just about care—it’s about restoring independence, dignity, and happiness.
We are so proud to be part of journeys like this
