WHAT IS HOMEOPATHY? It’s a holistic form of medicine, which means it covers the whole of you, your mind and body. Homeopaths see the body and mind as one. They are from the natural world, could be plant, mineral or animal origin. Could also be a virus or a bacterial disease, or healthy organs or sick organs. Homeopaths use a small sucrose pill or a lactose pill and also herbal tonics and tinctures. The aim is to use the minimum dose. Sometimes just one pill can do the trick or a month’s worth of therapeutic mix to support the organ system. It’s bespoke medicine, tailored in potency as well as medicinally to each patient. The remedies are prepared by a process where the original matter is highly diluted into an alcohol solution and sucussed (the solution is vigorously shaken to release energy). The dilution amount can vary depending in the potency required. Needless to say there is no material left in the remedy only the energetic imprint, it’s an energetic medicine. Extracting information about the presenting symptoms and when they started is key. You could have mental emotional symptoms or your problem could be mostly physical, whole body or part body symptoms. Homeopaths are looking for the causative effect. When did your problem start? What happened before you became ill? Remedies can be taken alongside allopathic medicine. There are no side effects, they are given to babies and the elderly as well as animals. The first appointment is 90 minutes, follow up appointments are 30-45 mins. Why would you go to a Homeopath? For all the same reasons you would go to a traditional doctor; stress, hormone problems, chronic illness, hay fever, asthma, mental emotional problems, anxiety, women’s period problems, children’s illnesses, slow development in children, teenage hormonal, acute illness and also ‘never been well since’… You get the picture. As is often the case Homeopaths see patients who have been everywhere else, those seeing Homeopathy as a last resort. I would say it’s a great first resort too.
