Cravings & urges - do they sometimes feel unbearable?
Surfing the urge is a helpful visual tool for strengthening your resilience and avoiding relapses. It can be used in addiction recovery, OCD recovery, anxiety management and many more areas where emotions regulation needs a bit of help.

Bereavement, grief and loss can cause many different symptoms and they affect people in different ways. There's no right or wrong way to feel; and there is no set time to “get over it”.

Grief stays with you, and you eventually find a way to live with the loss.

Counselling can offer a safe space to learn to live with your loss, whether it’s a bereavement, the loss of a relationship, or any other significant loss.

Sea Swimming - why taking the plunge is so good for you!
Living in Dorset we have easy access to the sea and countryside. Now that the weather is warming up and sea temperature is just about bearable, it might be worth taking the plunge and experiencing some of the many health benefits of cold water swimming.

Here are 5 ways wild swimming can benefit your mental health:

1. Increases Dopamine levels - the feel good neurotransmitter which helps us feel pleasure.

2. Being in nature - connecting with nature has a positive impact on mental health.

3. Exercise - keeping fit and healthy has long been known to increase both physical and mental health. And when physical and mental health improves, so does your immune system!

4. Reduces symptoms of anxiety and depression - more and more research is suggesting that immersing ourselves in cold water will reduce symptoms of both anxiety and depression.

5. Community - by joining a local group of other sea swimming enthusiasts you can build new friendships with other like minded wild water swimmers.

If you feel inspired, take the plunge! Always swim within your limits, and ideally go with at least one other person.

Let me know how you get on!
