Hi I'm a Advanced level Diploma Applied Equine podiatrist having graduated with the Institute of applied equine podiatry in 2013 then completing a further advanced training course dealing with pathology and reading X-rays and hoof morphology in the subsequent years as continued personal development. In this field we are never done learning and there is always another area to delve into to aid the horses under our care. My journey initially began with my older mare whom had been in shoes her whole life, she developed arthritis, and also had numerous tendon injuries and we almost lost her, 2 stints of box rest later and the shoes off after finding a great DAEP dotty was well on the road to recovery, she was sound of hoof and happy under a DAEP's care for the first year with my help conditioning the hooves, then under my trimming care when I decided that I wanted to train myself to be able to better help my own horse and those of others. I have now been helping horse and owners go shoeless with the equine podiatry method for almost a decade. It can be a tough journey at first with many trials and tribulations as horse are adapt to a life without steel affixed to their feet. It must be noted that shoeless is by no means the easy or cheaper option as correct nutrition and exercise is key along with the trim but when you get your horse rock crunching barefoot happy on any terrain with healthy robust feet it is extremely rewarding and certainly worth it, for your peace of mind and your horses long term health. A visit includes work up of horse before any work is done, gait analysis, conformational and postural assesment. Photographic progress of hooves, spectrum of usability form (rating of hooves health for intended use) and the High Performance Trim model applied if necessary.
