Survived the Hunger Games with Alex last weekend! Panic bought some carbon trainers which gave me a turbo boost on the runs, but those burpees were melting my brain. Time to plan the next trip down the track... and some actual training maybe? 🤦

The legs said a big fat no thanks today 🥴🦵
Lucky for me, I’ve got a cracking gang of pals to run with most mornings — but today the legs were having absolutely none of it.

Usually that’s my cue to take a rest day but since it’s only Tuesday and I’ve somehow hit max effort already 😂 I’m thinking it’s time to call in the soft tissue cavalry instead!

👐 Sports massage can be a total game-changer during a deload week, or moments like this when there’s too much fun to be had to slow down.

If your legs are having a melt down this early in the week, it might be time to get booked in.

I started working with Rich in November for a disc injury following assessment and imaging from his physio Mark at Sheen Physiotherapy. We made a phased rehab plan with criteria for progression, actively managed his training volumes and priorities with coaching staff and overall tried to focus on what he was able to do now rather than what he couldn’t do yet. Training with his mates and fellow rehabbing athletes was a high priority as well as trying to maintain condition. We experimented with what his back could tolerate along the way and were delighted when it went right and developed a great back up plan for when it went less right. I am so extremely pleased for him and the results he has achieved this season, but most proud of the way he remained so cheerful (even when it was pretty grim!) and is now so confidently able to manage his back himself. In 2007 I got sent up to North Devon on placement and lived there for two years before moving to New Zealand. I’d never heard of it really but fell in love hard and always knew that was where I am meant to end up. It’s taken a while but we are finally moving back at the end of this month. My week is going to look a bit mad but I actually can’t wait!
