Acknowledgement Notice for the late Charlie McGeown:
We the family of the late Charlie McGeown, Newry and Lurgan, would like to express our heartfelt appreciation for the kindness shown to us after the passing of Charlie. We would like to sincerely thank all of those who visited our family home, brought food, sent messages and sympathy cards and supported us during this difficult time. It brought us immense comfort and strength. We are also deeply grateful for the support shown to us by family, friends and neighbours during the wake.
Our sincere thanks also go to Canon Francis Brown who celebrated Charlie’s funeral mass. His thoughtful words and kindness were a source of great comfort. Thank you also to the Parish Bereavement Team who visited the house prior to and on the morning of the funeral. Their help and guidance were greatly appreciated. A huge thank you must also go to all of Charlie’s friends who provided very fitting music during the funeral mass. To Eddie, Cathal, Gabriel, Benny, Deirdre and Ellen. This would have meant the world to Charlie. Thanks also go to Sadie McAteer for her beautiful singing during the mass.
We would also like to express our gratitude to all of those who cared for Charlie in the weeks and months prior to his death. He was blessed to have a wonderful team of carers from Quality Care, who treated him like family, specifically George, Carla, Niall, Ruby, Cara and Aine. We would also like to thank the district nursing team as well as the acute care at home team who were an amazing source of help and advice. We were blessed to also have the amazing GP’s from Cornmarket Surgery (Dr’s Magennis, Barrett and Grant) coordinating Charlie’s care. We will be forever grateful for their efficient and hands on care. Our thanks also go to the teams from Evora hospice and Marie Curie. Your phone calls, visits and overnight sits meant more to us that you will ever know.
Finally, we would like to thank Cathal, Meabh and the whole team from McAnulty’s Funeral Directors for their immensely professional and compassionate care during the time of the wake and the funeral. As a family, it meant a great deal to us knowing that the arrangements were in such experienced hands.
Charlie is lovingly remembered and sadly missed every day by his wife, family and friends.
Charlie’s Months Mind mass will be celebrated on Sunday 22nd February at 10.30am in St Mary’s Church, Newry.
