GENDER SCANS …Did you Know - Sexing the baby is NOT an official NHS required skill - this means there is *no official training 😳
It is not part of the NHS Fetal Anomaly Screening Programme
NHS Sonographers are not required to give a s*x OPINION — they only do it if local policy allows and time permits.
Because it’s unofficial, the NHS doesn’t offer extra training specifically for “gender determination.”
So how do we learn?
We learn from years and years of looking at what’s developing between your babies legs. Up until 14 weeks boys & girls can look exactly the same, so we give it an extra week till everything settles down. We do not go off ‘nub theory’ or lumps and and bumps - as we know what’s at stake. We physically look for the male & female anatomy
The optimum time for checking the s*x of your baby is between 15- 18 weeks
Can you guess if this is a boy or girl? 😄😍
