Care teams across our home came to work in their PJ’s today to raise some much needed funds for Children in Need.

It’s not everyday you find out that one of your team members has written a book, and it’s not everyday you learn that they’ve previously written a best seller too!

Steve Worthington, our head office receptionist, features in the ‘Hidden Talents’ section of our October newsletter and he’s written a new book called ‘The Falling Rain.’ We’ve had a sneak preview and we are sure it’s going to be another best seller.
It’s out now and if you’d like to buy a copy it’s available to buy on Amazon.

Here’s a Quick Look at what’s happening next week here at Gainsborough House.

Monday it’s Sports themed Exercise Therapy, Tuesday it’s Odd Socks day to mark the start of Anti Bullying Week, we’ll be having a visit from Handsome Hank, our Therapy dog too. We’ll also be having a special Remembrance Day performance of war time classic songs from the fabulous Sara Humphrey.

Thursday it’s World Kindness Day. Children in Need on Friday and Art Therapy is on Friday this week too.
In between we’ll be running lots of person centred activities led by our wonderful care teams.

We will also be having 2 minutes silence at 11.00am on Tuesday to remember those who were lost fighting for our country.

Sumesh is one of our lovely care team members and is due to become a Dad at the end of this month.

Our extremely thoughtful team on Renoir threw him a baby shower this afternoon. He was showered with gifts from the team and resident’s relatives for their little baby girl who is due at the end of November.

Sumesh is seen here, taking home the bags full of new baby gifts to his wife. Everyone is really looking forward to meeting the new baby when she arrives.

We wish Sumesh and his wife all the very best at this very exciting time.

Our Lead Assistant Psychologist held her first Psychology Group Session on the new unit this week.

Residents started off by choosing a song that described their mood, sparking some great conversation and connection. They then explored emotion regulation exercises, reflecting on how different emotions feel and how they respond to them.

It was wonderful to see the gents bond, share, and enjoy plenty of social chitter-chatter by the end — a fantastic first session all around!

Here’s what’s going on this week here at Gainsborough House.

We’ve got Exercise and Art Therapy. Art Therapy now on a new day of the week, Friday. On Friday we’ll also be supporting Children in Need. On Thursday we’ll be wearing odd socks in support of anti-bullying week and also having a visit from the gorgeous Hank our Therapy Dogs Nationwide regular visitor.

In between our amazing care team will be providing person centred wellbeing activities on all floors.

On Sunday we will also be watching the Cenotaph Parade from 10.15 am onwards.
