What's the difference between Brazilian Lymphatic Drainage (BLD) & Manual Lymphatic Drainage (MLD)
Know what you are booking....
Brazilian Lymphatic Drainage (BLD) is an aesthetic, high-intensity massage using firm, fast-paced, and sculpting techniques for immediate, visible contouring and cellulite reduction.
In contrast, Manual Lymphatic Drainage (MLD/traditional) is a gentle, slow, therapeutic technique primarily used for medical purposes, such as reducing post-operative edema and lymphedema.
Key Differences:
Technique & Pressure:
BLD uses firm, faster, and more vigorous strokes, sometimes incorporating tools like cups or oils
MLD uses extremely light, gentle, and rhythmic pressure to follow the natural flow of the lymph vessels
Goal: BLD is geared toward cosmetic results—reducing bloating, enhancing, and shaping the body. MLD is for healing—detoxifying, improving immune function, and managing medical, post-surgical, or inflammatory conditions.
Results: BLD provides immediate, dramatic, yet temporary results suitable for events. MLD requires a series of sessions for long-term health and therapeutic benefits.
Post-Surgery: MLD is generally recommended in the first 2-6 weeks after surgery because the tissues are fragile. BLD should only be used after the healing process is complete (often 3 months+).
Which one to choose?
Choose Brazilian (BLD): If you are looking to reduce daily bloating, improve cellulite appearance, or get a more sculpted, contoured, or toned look.
Choose Traditional (MLD): If you are recovering from surgery, suffering from lymphedema, or have chronic swelling.
