❓DO YOU SUFFER FROM STUBBORN VERRUCAE ❓
What is a verrucae?
A verruca (plantar wart) is a viral skin lesion caused by the human papillomavirus (HPV), commonly appearing on the soles of the feet. Due to the pressure from standing or walking, verrucae may become painful and can sometimes develop a rough, callused surface. They are contagious and can spread through direct contact or via contaminated surfaces such as communal showers or swimming pool areas.
What are the treatment options?
➡Initial Assessment and First-Line Treatment
During the initial consultation, the verruca will be assessed and diagnosed to confirm it's nature and extent. As a first-line treatment, debridement will be carried out to remove the overlying hard skin and reduce discomfort. This process also enhances the effectiveness of any subsequent treatment.
➡Further Treatment Options (Additional Cost)
If the verruca persists or requires more intensive management, the following treatment options are available:
• Cryotherapy – Application of liquid nitrogen to freeze the lesion (+£15.00)
• Verrutop – A topical chemical treatment that promotes tissue destruction and healing
(+£20.00)
• Class 4 Laser Therapy – Uses focused laser energy to destroy the infected tissue
(+£25.00)
• Verruca Needling – Performed under local anaesthetic to stimulate an immune
response and target the virus (+£250.00)
Treatment choice will depend on the size, duration, and number of verrucae, as well as patient preference and tolerance.
