Residents in Warrington and Halton are urged to use NHS 111 for all non-emergency healthcare needs as resident doctors are set to begin strike action later this week.

Accident and Emergency (A&E) departments should be used only when facing a serious or life-threatening emergency.

Industrial action will take place from 7am on Friday 14 November to 7am on Wednesday 19 November and will severely impact NHS trusts across Cheshire and Merseyside.

Patients should attend any planned appointments as normal, unless they are contacted directly by the Trust.

🚨Our Emergency Department (A&E) at Warrington Hospital is experiencing extremely high demand, with a significant increase in attendances. Our team are working hard to assess and treat patients as quickly and effectively as possible to reduce delays, prioritising our most unwell patients first.

Please do think about whether the Emergency Department is where you really need to be. Unless it’s a life-threatening or severe illness or injury, we urge you to contact your GP, attend your local pharmacy, urgent treatment centre or contact NHS 111 for advice and care.

People with life-threatening illnesses or injuries should continue to dial 999. Anyone who arrives at the Emergency Department will still receive medical care but may have a lengthy wait as we must prioritise those in greatest need of emergency treatment.
