Great news from Barnsley! 🎉

We’re delighted to celebrate new funding awarded to the Dorothy Hyman Centre which will introduce a weekly Disability Day, opening up even more opportunities for people to get active, social and confident through sport and physical activity.

Every Thursday participants will have the chance to enjoy a wide range of facilities across the centre – from sessions in the gym and sports hall, to activity on the outdoor athletics track, as well as inclusive sessions in the studio spaces.

And when the weather improves, participants will also be able to get involved with the Wheels for All Barnsley cycles, offering the chance to experience the freedom and joy of inclusive cycling 🚲

This is a fantastic step forward in making activity more accessible in Barnsley, and we’re excited to see more people discovering new ways to move, connect and have fun. 💙

Today we’re celebrating International Women’s Day and recognising the incredible women who help make inclusive cycling possible every day at Wheels for All. 💜🚲

This year’s theme, “Give to Gain,” highlights that meaningful progress towards gender equality requires deliberate contributions from governments, institutions and individuals. By actively giving our time, support and opportunities, we can help create a more inclusive future for women and girls everywhere.

At Wheels for All, we see the power of this every day. Women play a vital role across our network — as participants, volunteers, staff and partners — helping to break down barriers and ensure more people can experience the joy and freedom of cycling.

Our recent Impact Report showed that 35% of our participants in 2025 identified as female. We’re encouraged by this growing number and are committed to building on that progress, with the aim of creating a 50/50 gender balance in the years ahead so even more women and girls feel empowered to cycle.

If you’d like to support our mission, there are plenty of ways to get involved — from volunteering at one of our hubs to fundraising or helping spread the word about inclusive cycling. Every contribution helps more people gain confidence, connection and independence through cycling. 🌟🚴‍♀️

Our 2025 Impact Report is here! 🎉🚲

We’re excited to launch the Wheels for All 2025 Impact Report, reflecting on a year of growth and life-changing impact through inclusive cycling.

Today, our CEO, Ian Tierney, visited our Birkenhead Park Hub to officially launch the report, meeting participants and volunteers and celebrating the difference inclusive cycling is making in communities across England.

Thanks to our incredible volunteers, partners and supporters, we’ve continued to unlock health, inclusion and independence for disabled people and people living with long-term health conditions. Behind every session delivered and every mile ridden is a story of increased wellbeing and stronger communities.

From expanding our national Inclusive Cycling Network to welcoming Chris Boardman as Patron, 2025 has been a landmark year for Wheels for All — and we’re only just getting started.

Our new report shares the data, stories and social value behind our work, and sets out our ambitions for the year ahead.

Calling all corporate volunteers! 🚨

Today we have seen that new insights outlined in The New State of Corporate Volunteering 2026 report from show something important:

👉 Participation in volunteering is rising — but time and impact per person are falling
👉 Corporate priorities and charity needs are drifting apart
👉 While volunteering drives real business value, most organisations aren’t measuring what truly matters

Read the report: https://benevity.com/research/the-state-of-corporate-volunteering-2026

Wheels for All has long been a supporter of corporate volunteering, and we love welcoming teams from many businesses and organisations to our Hubs and we believe that when corporate volunteering is designed with purpose, it creates real impact — for communities, employees, and businesses alike.. The report highlights how important it is to create volunteering experiences that are meaningful and genuinely impactful.

Our inclusive cycling sessions give teams hands-on, meaningful ways to:

🚲 support disabled people to ride
🤝 build team connection and wellbeing
💜 make a measurable difference locally

If your organisation wants volunteering that truly makes a difference to people’s lives, we’d love to hear from you.

Meet Mike and Sindy! 🥰

When Mike first came to our Bike Buddy sessions at Life Leisure Avondale, cycling with his legs felt like a thing of the past. After a stroke left him with limited mobility down his right side, he began on a hand cycle, rebuilding strength and confidence one session at a time 🚲

With determination (and his wife, Sindy, cheering him on), Mike progressed to a recumbent trike, pedalling with his legs again - a milestone he once thought impossible.

Not to be outdone, Sindy, who had never ridden a bike before, learned alongside him and was cycling independently within 30 minutes!

With his increased confidence, Mike was also able to take on a 62-mile challenge in October last year to raise money for the Stroke Association — proof of how far he’s come ✨

Both Mike and Sindy are proof of what ca happen when inclusive cycling is available in local communities and we are so proud to have been a part of both of their journeys! ❤️

It’s never too late to try something new 💛🚲

Meet Helen! At 70, Helen joined us at Birkenhead Park feeling completely terrified of riding a bike. Living with arthritis and sciatica, she worried about falling and couldn’t even get on a two-wheeler at her first session — so we started on a trike instead.

With support from our amazing volunteers, including help setting up her own bike and building her confidence week by week, Helen is now riding independently around the park and near her home.

“It’s exhilarating knowing I can ride a bike myself now.”

We’re so proud of Helen’s journey 💛

Last week was an incredible week for Wheels for All Colchester! 🙌💜

We were delighted to welcome the amazing team from Tiptree Runners, including their Race Director and charity coordinators, who presented us with a very generous donation following this year’s Tiptree 10 🏃‍♀️

Each year, the race organisers support charities nominated by their club members – and we’re so proud that Wheels for All Colchester was chosen as one of them.

On top of the fantastic funds raised through the race itself, an additional £400 was raised in donations from supporters while taking part – an amazing show of community spirit! 💜

These funds will go towards replacing the much-loved E-Trike at the Colchester Hub, helping the team there continue to provide inclusive cycling opportunities for everyone in our community

A huge, heartfelt thank you to everyone who donated, ran, organised and supported. You are all truly amazing 🙌

A huge thank you to A1 Flue Systems for their incredibly generous donation of two Hase Kettwiesel adapted cycles to Wheels for All last week 💙🚲

These fantastic cycles will make a real difference to our participants, providing greater stability and confidence for people who may not be able to use a standard two-wheeled bike. Every addition to our fleet helps us welcome more disabled people and those with long-term health conditions to experience the joy and freedom of cycling.

Support like this ensures we can continue breaking down barriers and creating inclusive cycling opportunities in our communities.

Look out for them at a Hub near you! 🙌

Looking to make a difference in your community? 🚲✨

Most of our sessions are starting back up over the next few weeks after our winter closure, and we’re welcoming new volunteers to join us in 2026. While we have many volunteer roles, what you do with us is always shaped around you. We take time to get to know each person, their interests and their needs, so volunteering with Wheels for All is flexible and supportive.

We’d love you to come along to your nearest session, see what we do, have a chat with the team and decide if it’s right for you. No cycling experience needed – just a friendly attitude and a willingness to help.

Make 2026 the year you try something new and give back ❤️

There’s still time to support our SpaceHive campaign to bring a Velo Plus wheelchair-accessible cycle to our Ellesmere Port Hub 💙🚲

This specialist cycle would allow a wheelchair user to be securely attached to the front, making it possible to ride alongside friends, family and carers — sharing the joy of cycling together. For many people, this could be the very first time they’ve had the chance to experience that freedom.

With your support, we’re aiming to:
🚲 Purchase and install the Velo Plus cycle
👥 Deliver 10 fully staffed inclusive cycling sessions
🛠️ Train our staff and volunteers to use it safely and confidently for years to come

If you’ve been meaning to donate, now is the perfect time. Every contribution — big or small — helps us create more inclusive cycling opportunities in Ellesmere Port.

Let’s make it happen together 💙

A huge thank you to Paul and the team from Halfords for visiting our Woking Hub earlier this week! 🙌

It was fantastic to welcome them on site as they carried out maintenance on some of our adapted cycles, helping us keep our fleet reliable and ready for our participants. Their support makes a real difference to the disabled people and those with long-term health conditions who rely on our sessions each week.

We’re proud to be working in partnership with Halfords through the Cycle2Work scheme, helping to open up access to inclusive cycling for more employees and businesses across the UK. Together, we’re breaking down barriers and creating more opportunities for everyone to experience the joy of cycling as an active travel option.

Thank you again, Paul and team, for your continued support! 💙🚲
