A mindful breathing technique for children ⭐️
This week is Children’s Mental Health Week, and the theme is Know Yourself, Grow Yourself. The idea is to help children and young people across the UK learn more about who they are. By understanding themselves better, they can build confidence, grow stronger, and feel more able to handle life’s challenges.
One easy way to support this is with the Finger Breathing technique, a simple, calming exercise to help children slow down and feel more in control.
1. Simply trace the image of the hand (or use their hand!) and breath as you trace.
2. For every up movement, breath in. When you get to the top of each finger, hold for a few seconds, then breathe out as you trace down and hold when you get to the bottom.
3. Repeat until you've done all 10 fingers and then ask them to notice how they feel.
Have you tried this technique with your children? (It works well for adults too!)
