The UKHSA in partnership with the Met Office have issued a yellow cold weather alert from 17th Nov (8am) until 21st Nov (8am). This means people especially who are vulnerable due to medical problems are at increased risk of ill-health and GPs/Hospitals will be under increased pressure.

You can protect yourself by ensuring living spaces are maintained at 18 °C, wear multiple thin layers rather then one thick layer, close windows and curtains overnight to block droughts and check on friends and neighbours

🚨The Emergency Department (A&E) at Hospital is experiencing extremely high demand, with a significant increase in attendances. Their team is working hard to assess and treat patients as quickly and effectively as possible to reduce delays, prioritising their most unwell patients first.

Please do think about whether the Emergency Department is where you really need to be. Unless it’s a life-threatening or severe illness or injury, they are urging people to contact your GP, attend your local pharmacy, urgent treatment centre or contact NHS 111 for advice and care.

People with life-threatening illnesses or injuries should continue to dial 999. Anyone who arrives at the Emergency Department will still receive medical care but may have a lengthy wait as they must prioritise those in greatest need of emergency treatment.
