‼️ SEDATING YOUR HORSES FOR PHYSIO ‼️
**Controversial Opinion**
Recently I was speaking to one of my clients who previously had a physio come out to see her horse - but only if she had him sedated first.
Frustrated and disappointed was the least of I was feeling!! This horse had been through the ringer with multiple surgeries and very reasonably had developed significant behavioral responses to pain.
As horses can’t speak we rely on their body language to tell us what and where they are feeling. If we take this ability away from them, how can we possibly be listening to them?
And not to mention removing their consent to physical touch! Being a physio is not a one size fits all approach with a generic treatment plan. Some horses need that extra bit of time and patience before they allow you in to assess what their specific issues are.
Not surprisingly, this horse was worse after treatment so now we begin the journey of physical and mental rehab.
If your horse is struggling with pain or their rehab please get in touch to see how we can help ✨
