It’s time for the final of 2025!
Sad, we know but don’t worry, we’ll be back next year 🧡

International panels, publications and careers events, December wrapped up a landmark year in style. Here’s what we’ve been up to this month:

1 - At RSNA 2025, our Medical Director Dr Peter Strouhal joined leaders from AGFA HealthCare, AWS and Tampa General Hospital to discuss the future of imaging.

2/3 - Congratulations to Daniele Silipo, one of our Cardiac MRI Radiographers, on publishing his first scientific paper on the role of AI in optimising CMR image quality. A brilliant achievement!

4 - Claire, Shelley and Hayley were invited to the University of Cumbria’s Neighbourhood Healthcare and Education afternoon where discussions focused on improving access, optimising pathways and the use of AI, in line with the NHS 10-year plan.

5/6 – Pedro, Aamna and Zain attended the annual radiography recruitment fair for the University of Bradford and University of Leeds alongside over 100 radiography students.

7 - We were proud to sponsor the BIR/HLH Lung Cancer Screening Study Day - a key event bringing together healthcare professionals from across the UK to explore the latest thinking in lung screening delivery, data, and workforce development.

8/9 - We celebrated the achievements of 11 talented Assistant Practitioners who completed their apprenticeship with the University of Cumbria and are taking the next step toward becoming fully qualified Radiographers.

10 - Our mobile MRI team at Phoenix Hospital Chelmsford supported filming for a new visual and audio preparation tool to help patients feel more informed and less anxious ahead of scans.

That’s all for 2025! See you next year 👋

We braved the weather (and a few brolly malfunctions!) to launch our new Omni digital PET-CT scanner - the first of its kind on a mobile in the UK!

Joined by colleagues from Sandwell and West Birmingham NHS Trust and GE HealthCare, we welcomed our first patient and marked another important milestone in PET-CT innovation.

This new service will deliver:

→ Faster 15-minute scan times, improving patient experience
→ Increased throughput and capacity for the NHS
→ Enhanced image resolution, supporting clinical decision-making
→ Improved detection of smaller lesions, enabling earlier, more accurate diagnosis

Alongside the technology, GE applications specialists are providing advanced training, embedding specialist skills within our teams and ensuring knowledge can be passed on to future colleagues.

This launch reinforces our long-standing commitment to PET-CT – continually investing in technology, people, and partnerships to strengthen diagnostic services.

2025 marks ten years of delivering the national PET-CT contract.

Signing off this decade with another PET-CT first feels very fitting, and there’s much more to come in 2026…

We’ve got two reasons to celebrate!
Not one, but TWO HSJ Award nominations! 🎉

We’re beyond excited to share that we’ve been shortlisted twice in the Best Diagnostics Provider category at this year’s HSJ Independent Healthcare Providers Awards!

These nominations, showcase the power of our partnerships and celebrate two of our projects that are changing lives and setting new standards in diagnostics:

Collaboration at the Heart: Transforming Cardiac Diagnostics across Greater Manchester - delivered in partnership with Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust. This recognition celebrates the radiographers, booking teams and clinical leaders who, alongside our NHS partners, have reshaped cardiac diagnostics, reduced inequities and created a blueprint others can adopt.

From Pilot to Pathway: Straight to PET-CT a regional model for faster cancer diagnosis - delivered in partnership with Lancashire Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. Our straight to PET‑CT pathway turns oesophageal cancer diagnosis into a single appointment, delivering faster results, higher accuracy, 100% patient satisfaction and freeing 200 CT slots. It is now being scaled regionally with promising national potential.

We’re so proud of what these projects have achieved and even prouder of the people behind them. Whatever happens in March, being shortlisted is such an honour and amazing recognition.

Thank you to our amazing team who got involved in The Trussell Trust food drive for the North Solihull Food Bank, donating much needed items as well as some lovely Christmas treats.

The North Solihull team said:

“The total amount of food that you brought in weighed 125kg. You can be sure that this food will go straight to those who need it most in our community. It is greatly appreciated.”

The North Solihull Food back is small but impactful local charity and last year they helped over 1000 local households. Food banks provide essential food for families finding it impossible to make ends meet 🧡

Come behind the scenes at Phoenix Hospital Chelmsford, where our mobile team supported the development of a new visual and audio tool designed to help patients feel more prepared for their MRI scans.

This tool will give patients a clearer idea of what to expect and help reduce anxiety ahead of their appointment.

Driven by recent feedback from SNAP Charity (A charity that supports families whose children have additional needs or disabilities), Phoenix Hospital Group took swift action to turn patient insight into meaningful improvements.

During the session, our team supported the filming process on-site, ensuring that everything needed for the new MRI preparation guide could be captured safely and smoothly.

This is the kind of initiative we are fully aligned with, reflecting the wider patient-journey videos and resources we develop across our network.

It was a pleasure to support Chloe Keeble and the Phoenix team – we’re looking forward to seeing the finished tool 👀

Last week, we celebrated our third cohort of Assistant Practitioners completing their apprenticeship with the University of Cumbria! We couldn’t be prouder of what they’ve achieved 🎓

The 11 talented individuals are now taking the next step in their journey to becoming Radiographers and we’ll be supporting them every step of the way!

We don’t just build a team; we build their careers too.
Because investing in people is fundamental to how we grow.

Our “growing our own” approach is our way of showing commitment to our people - whilst also resourcing the future of imaging, strengthening the wider diagnostic workforce, and ensuring patients continue to benefit from highly skilled clinicians for years to come; whether with us, or elsewhere.

A huge congratulations to all who completed the programme:

Sam Hook, Laura Berry, Bethany Johnston, Mateusz Grubecki, Bethany Morris, Caítlin Wallace, Jack Shaw, Shannon Best, Karen Roberts, Katie O'Donnell, Nicole McCarthy

Thank you for your passion and commitment to patient care 🧡

November brought a powerful mix of innovation, education, partnerships and community impact. Here's your behind-the-scenes look at what our teams have been working on this month:

1–2. In partnership with the University of the West of England, we’ve launched the UK’s first PET-CT Postgraduate Certificate, creating a new educational pathway that bridges nuclear medicine and PET-CT practice. Launching in Sept 2026, this PG Cert will help radiographers and technologists upskill into advanced PET-CT roles – responding directly to growing workforce demand.

3-4. We’re proud to celebrate two decades at Keele – the site of our first Radiopharmacy Unit 🎉 Since 2005, we’ve grown from 7 to 32 team members and increased production from 5,000 to 60,000 doses annually. Recently, we attended Keele’s Graduate Fair to connect with future talent and were thrilled to be nominated at the Breaking the Mould Awards. Here’s to the next 20 years of partnership and growth!

5. Senior leaders from Alliance Medical UK and Europe visited Elkerliek Hospital in the Netherlands, the site of our new five-year PET-CT partnership. We’ll deliver a fully integrated modular imaging solution, with radiopharmaceutical supply from our network, ensuring continuity of care throughout their hospital redevelopment.

6. Our Managing Director, Pete Wi******er, joined the IHPN Annual Summit to discuss how independent providers like Alliance Medical are helping the NHS meet the ambitions of the 10-Year Plan.

7. BBC News recently featured one of the UK’s largest prostate cancer trials – and our mobile MRI service at Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust was part of the story.

8-9. Our team attended the University of Hertfordshire Careers Fair to meet with future radiographers and showcase the opportunities available through our Graduate Programme.

10. A huge thank you to our team who supported the Trussell Trust food drive. Your donations help provide essential support to families facing hardship. Together, we’re making life better – in and out of the workplace.

That’s November done ✅

Celebrating 20 years at Keele! We opened our first Radiopharmacy Unit in 2005 and since then we’ve seen remarkable growth and created a powerful partnership with Keele University 🧡

Two decades in numbers:

→ Grown from 7 team members to 32.
→ Increased production capacity from 30 to 300 doses per day.
→ Increased annual output from 5000 to 60000 doses p.a. since opening.

We’re incredibly proud of our long-standing collaboration with the Keele University Science & Innovation Park and the University’s Department of Chemistry, who provide us with excellent graduates and the opportunity to share our knowledge with the next generation of radiopharmacy specialists.

Breaking the mould:

Last month, we were honoured to be nominated at Keele University's Breaking the Mould Awards, including:

🏆 The Going for Growth Award
🏆 The Science and Innovation Park Company of the Year Award.

These nominations recognise organisations that demonstrate innovation, sustainable growth, and strong contributions to the local community – values that lie at the heart of who we are.

Resourcing the future:

Most recently, our team attended Keele University’s Graduate Fair to showcase the exciting placement and graduate opportunities available across all Alliance Medical’s five Radiopharmacy sites.

Aleksandra Chmielecka, Graduate Liaison & Production Radiochemist, said:

“The event provided a fantastic platform to introduce Radiopharmacy to students and connect with recent graduates eager to start their careers. We spoke to many motivated individuals keen to learn more about our work and how our placements and graduate scheme provide hands-on experience and professional development.”

As we celebrate this milestone, we’re looking ahead – continuing to grow, innovate, and enhance access to life-saving diagnostic imaging and radiopharmacy services across the UK.
