Celebrating 20 years at Keele! We opened our first Radiopharmacy Unit in 2005 and since then we’ve seen remarkable growth and created a powerful partnership with Keele University 🧡

Two decades in numbers:

→ Grown from 7 team members to 32.
→ Increased production capacity from 30 to 300 doses per day.
→ Increased annual output from 5000 to 60000 doses p.a. since opening.

We’re incredibly proud of our long-standing collaboration with the Keele University Science & Innovation Park and the University’s Department of Chemistry, who provide us with excellent graduates and the opportunity to share our knowledge with the next generation of radiopharmacy specialists.

Breaking the mould:

Last month, we were honoured to be nominated at Keele University's Breaking the Mould Awards, including:

🏆 The Going for Growth Award
🏆 The Science and Innovation Park Company of the Year Award.

These nominations recognise organisations that demonstrate innovation, sustainable growth, and strong contributions to the local community – values that lie at the heart of who we are.

Resourcing the future:

Most recently, our team attended Keele University’s Graduate Fair to showcase the exciting placement and graduate opportunities available across all Alliance Medical’s five Radiopharmacy sites.

Aleksandra Chmielecka, Graduate Liaison & Production Radiochemist, said:

“The event provided a fantastic platform to introduce Radiopharmacy to students and connect with recent graduates eager to start their careers. We spoke to many motivated individuals keen to learn more about our work and how our placements and graduate scheme provide hands-on experience and professional development.”

As we celebrate this milestone, we’re looking ahead – continuing to grow, innovate, and enhance access to life-saving diagnostic imaging and radiopharmacy services across the UK.

Alliance Medical and the University of the West of England have joined forces to launch the UK’s first PET-CT Postgraduate Certificate, creating a new educational pathway that bridges nuclear medicine and PET-CT practice.

This partnership combines our clinical expertise as a sector leader in molecular imaging and a National PET-CT Contract Holder for NHS England with the University's academic excellence.

Expected to launch in September 2026, the PET-CT PG Cert will set a new standard in diagnostic imaging education, workforce development and skills enhancement.

Diagnostic radiographers and nuclear medicine technologists will obtain a university-validated qualification, supporting their progression into advanced PET-CT practice and strengthening care delivery.

Welcome back to hashtag 🧡
Over the past three months, it’s been all go across the business!

From major partnerships and service launches to career fairs, community events, and international expansion. Here’s your behind-the-scenes roundup of our most exciting updates:

1–3. Did you spot Jen and Emma at the University of Derby or Rachel at the University of Portsmouth careers fairs? We met with students to share what life at AML looks like. While Ben and Aleksandr represented Alliance Medical Radiopharmacy at the University of Lancashire, promoting our grad roles.

4. We announced a landmark partnership with The University of Manchester to invest £10m in rebuilding the Wolfson Molecular Imaging Centre – to support cutting-edge research in oncology, neurology, and cardiology – and accelerate the development of new radiotracers.

5. We welcomed Health Minister Karin Smyth MP to officially open the Corby CDC, alongside our partners from University Hospitals of Northamptonshire NHS Group. The centre will deliver over 93,000 scans a year – earlier diagnoses, closer to home.

6. We launched a new mobile PET-CT service in Northeast London, in partnership with Barts Health NHS Trust. This service will increase oncological capacity and reducing waiting times for cancer patients.

7. Mercurius Health joined the Alliance Medical family! Our acquisition of their Iberian operations expands our presence across Spain and Portugal with new PET-CT, radiotherapy, and radiopharmacy centres.

8. Our stand at the EANM Congress was packed with representatives from across Europe: AML UK, Radiopharmacy, and Alliance Medical Northern Europe were in attendance. Dr Peter Strouhal also spoke on how GLP-1 agonists are impacting PET-CT scans.

9. Team AML took on the Great South Run 2025, raising an amazing £1,258 for Dementia UK and Macmillan Cancer Support. A huge congratulations to everyone who ran, donated, or cheered us on!

10. We welcomed three engineering students from the University of Bath, for a rare behind-the-scenes tour of our Sutton Radiopharmacy during a cyclotron maintenance shutdown. It was a unique opportunity to explore the technology behind radiotracer production.

That’s a wrap for our autumn roundup!
Real people. Real moments. Real impact.

We’re celebrating Joel Barter, a PET-CT Radiographer at our Jack Brignall PET-CT Centre, who completed the Great North Run with an incredible time of 1 hour 40 minutes 🎉

He ran in support of Independent Age, a charity that offers financial help to older people who are struggling:

“The majority of patients we scan at Alliance fall into the elderly demographic. Talking with them daily, you really feel for them and the struggles they are facing. By fundraising even a small amount, I hope to alleviate some of the pressures they experience.”

His fundraising has already helped fund 13 phone calls, each potentially resulting in up to £4,700 a year in welfare entitlements for those in need - an amazing impact!

Next year, Joel will be taking on the Great North Run again - this time running in memory of his grandmother, in support of Dementia UK 🧡

From all of us at Alliance Medical, congratulations on your incredible achievement and continued commitment to making a difference - both in patient care and beyond 👏

Has that Friday feeling got you walking on air?
It does for Sam who took to the skies in aid of Dementia UK 🧡

Sam raised nearly £500 and described the experience as “incredible” – made even more special by jumping tandem with an ex-Red Devils Army Parachute Display Team.

“I would do it all again without hesitation. I’m so grateful for all the support from AML, friends, and family who donated.”

We’re so proud of Sam for taking on this challenge and for supporting such an important cause 👏

Sunday was a great day for Team AML at the Great South Run 2025! Our intrepid runners took on 10 miles along the Portsmouth seafront, and they all crossed the finish line (despite a few sore legs!) 🏁

Together, Team AML ran in support of Dementia UK and Macmillan Cancer Support, raising an amazing £1,258 🎉 Thank you to all who donated and helped us beat our target 🧡

We’re so proud of everyone who trained, contributed, cheered from the sidelines, or shared our posts along the way – your support truly makes a difference.

A huge congratulations to the whole team and everyone who joined the challenge.

Taking on the Great North and South Run double… It’s Emily Wolton!

This year, Emily’s going the extra mile – literally – by completing both the Great North and Great South Runs 😅

But for her, it’s about more than the miles:

“𝘈 𝘥𝘦𝘮𝘦𝘯𝘵𝘪𝘢 𝘥𝘪𝘢𝘨𝘯𝘰𝘴𝘪𝘴 𝘥𝘰𝘦𝘴𝘯’𝘵 𝘫𝘶𝘴𝘵 𝘢𝘧𝘧𝘦𝘤𝘵 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘱𝘦𝘳𝘴𝘰𝘯 𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘮𝘴𝘦𝘭𝘷𝘦𝘴 – 𝘪𝘵 𝘪𝘮𝘱𝘢𝘤𝘵𝘴 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘧𝘳𝘪𝘦𝘯𝘥𝘴 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘧𝘢𝘮𝘪𝘭𝘺 𝘸𝘩𝘰 𝘩𝘢𝘷𝘦 𝘵𝘰 𝘴𝘦𝘦 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘱𝘦𝘰𝘱𝘭𝘦 𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘺 𝘬𝘯𝘰𝘸 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘭𝘰𝘷𝘦 𝘤𝘩𝘢𝘯𝘨𝘦. 𝘐𝘧 𝘵𝘩𝘪𝘴 𝘰𝘯𝘦 𝘴𝘮𝘢𝘭𝘭 𝘤𝘩𝘢𝘭𝘭𝘦𝘯𝘨𝘦 𝘤𝘢𝘯 𝘩𝘦𝘭𝘱 𝘮𝘢𝘬𝘦 𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘪𝘳 𝘭𝘪𝘷𝘦𝘴 𝘢 𝘭𝘪𝘵𝘵𝘭𝘦 𝘮𝘰𝘳𝘦 𝘵𝘰𝘭𝘦𝘳𝘢𝘣𝘭𝘦, 𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘯 𝘦𝘷𝘦𝘳𝘺 𝘵𝘳𝘢𝘪𝘯𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘮𝘪𝘭𝘦 𝘸𝘪𝘭𝘭 𝘣𝘦 𝘸𝘰𝘳𝘵𝘩 𝘪𝘵.”

We’re so proud to have Emily representing Team AML, raising money for Dementia UK and Macmillan Cancer Support. If you’d like to support, please visit our JustGiving page - https://bit.ly/4pRWA2u

Good luck Emily!

Next to take their position on the Great South Run start line…
Team AML’s Managing Director, Pete Wi******er 👏

Despite a tough 2025 London Marathon experience, he bounced back to achieve a “𝘮𝘪𝘥𝘥𝘭𝘦-𝘢𝘨𝘦 𝘱𝘦𝘳𝘴𝘰𝘯𝘢𝘭 𝘣𝘦𝘴𝘵” over 10k, just five months later.

“𝘛𝘩𝘪𝘴 𝘪𝘴 𝘮𝘦 𝘵𝘰𝘸𝘢𝘳𝘥𝘴 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘦𝘯𝘥 𝘰𝘧 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘓𝘰𝘯𝘥𝘰𝘯 𝘔𝘢𝘳𝘢𝘵𝘩𝘰𝘯 𝘪𝘯 𝘈𝘱𝘳𝘪𝘭…𝘢 𝘳𝘶𝘯 𝘵𝘩𝘢𝘵 𝘸𝘦𝘯𝘵 𝘴𝘰 𝘣𝘢𝘥𝘭𝘺 𝘪𝘯 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘩𝘦𝘢𝘵 𝘵𝘩𝘢𝘵 𝘐’𝘮 𝘰𝘯𝘭𝘺 𝘯𝘰𝘸 𝘱𝘳𝘦𝘱𝘢𝘳𝘦𝘥 𝘵𝘰 𝘵𝘢𝘭𝘬 𝘢𝘣𝘰𝘶𝘵 𝘪𝘵, 𝘣𝘶𝘵 𝘮𝘺 𝘳𝘦𝘤𝘦𝘯𝘵 𝘗𝘉 𝘪𝘴 𝘱𝘳𝘰𝘰𝘧 𝘵𝘩𝘢𝘵 𝘤𝘰𝘯𝘴𝘪𝘴𝘵𝘦𝘯𝘤𝘺 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘱𝘦𝘳𝘴𝘦𝘷𝘦𝘳𝘢𝘯𝘤𝘦 𝘢𝘳𝘦 𝘷𝘦𝘳𝘺 𝘪𝘮𝘱𝘰𝘳𝘵𝘢𝘯𝘵!”

Pete trains three times a week (plus the odd bike ride) and says having an event in the diary gives him focus - even on the days he’s not feeling it.

His top advice?
“𝘌𝘴𝘵𝘢𝘣𝘭𝘪𝘴𝘩 𝘢 𝘳𝘰𝘶𝘵𝘪𝘯𝘦. 𝘔𝘪𝘹 𝘪𝘵 𝘶𝘱. 𝘚𝘵𝘳𝘦𝘵𝘤𝘩. 𝘈𝘯𝘥 𝘦𝘯𝘫𝘰𝘺 𝘪𝘵... 𝘰𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘳𝘸𝘪𝘴𝘦 𝘸𝘩𝘢𝘵’𝘴 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘱𝘰𝘪𝘯𝘵?”

Pete will be running alongside the rest of Team AML, raising funds for Dementia UK and Macmillan Cancer Support.

Good luck Pete!
