Oh HELLO CHEEKBONES ❤️😍

Lillie sends me a silly, sweaty post work out selfie and proudly shows me her cycles through heart rate zones.

The the last 7 weeks, through CONSISTENTLY training (but not over training), drinking her water, using a meal plan with 6 meals and chocolate every single day ❤️ she has lost 18lb.

Lils, you work so flipping hard and show up every day for yourself. You are so inspiring !

Hard work pays off and we only just getting starrrrttteed 🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻

Delicious dinner last night 😍
Smoked paprika, cumin and garlic chicken with black bean, kale, tomato and corriander salsa; brown rice and siracha yoghurt.

High protein, full of micronutrients, healthy fats and whole carbs.

Eating to lose fat doesn’t have to be boring! I’m down 2 inches from my waist in 5 weeks 🥳

I’m loving helping my clients at the moment. My goal for next week is to help one more person feel settled around food, whether they want to lose fat, build muscle or simply learn how to maintain their body on higher calories with more flexibility.

Happy weekend everyone!

🍳🥓🥩 PROTEIN

Do you get yours?

Common misconceptions about protein intake I regularly see:
1. Protein powders will make me fat - incorrect! A calorie surplus will make you gain weight. Protein powders should be included as part of your plan.

2. I NEED to consume protein within 60 mins after my workout - debatable - over all, research shows that consuming 1-2g protein per kg body weight will lead to maintenance or anabolism (building) of muscle tissue. Timing may be important at a fine scale, but not for all of us. Keep it simple.

3. I should eat mostly protein and low carb and fat if I want to lose fat - incorrect! In order to train effectively and regulate your hormones, you need approx 35-50% of your calories to come from carbs (especially if you have goals to improve your cardio fitness). Healthy fats will NOT make you fat.
The main role of protein in fat loss is that it keeps you fuller for longer - I aim for around 20g at each meal 🥰

4. Meat is necessary for muscle growth - incorrect! We get different amino acids from plants and animal based foods. Ideally, a diet containing both will give you everything you need. If you’re plant based for ethical, religious or health reasons, it’s still totally possible to hit that protein goal! It’ll just require a little thought.

BODY DYSMORPHIA 🧠👀
Like many women, I suffer with extreme body dysmorphia. This is where your perception of your body and it’s size doesn’t match with the way it actually looks...
My 🧠 and my 👀 do AWFUL things to my body image. On the left is my actual body. On the right, I’ve used a retouching app to alter my body what resemble more what I see every time I look in the bathroom mirror.

Distressing, huh?

This is a product of years and years of trying to change my body, feeling self conscious about my thicker thighs and my weight fluctuating up and down several stone over a short period of time due to disordered eating.

Now I can see it for what it is - a mental struggle that might never go away. The difference is that now, I have some tools to help me.

1. Consistent healthy habits - I never show compensatory behavior (binging and over exercising) any more.
2. I notice and name how I feel on a given day. I am vocal about these feelings with my partner who is supportive!
3. I take pictures - this way I can see my body how it actually looks.
4. I don’t weight myself - I abandoned the sad step in favor of tracking how I feel in this body that enables me to do cool things; takes me places; allows me to feel and experience everything!

I hope I can make more people aware of this problem that so many people struggle with (I’m sure many men, too!). I hope it also highlights how easy it is to change your body shape using a free retouching app 🤦🏼‍♀️🤯 (no wonder we have body issues.. huh).

One thing that people ALWAYS under estimate is the power of N.E.A.T (non exercise activity related thermogenesis). In other words, this is the sum of alllll that energy you expend doing well... stuff!

To give an example, scroll through the next few pictures and see how many extra calories my Fitbit reckons I’m burning just by walking to and from the car, walking around work to fetch things.

What’s yours? Maybe..

❤️Walking the dog
❤️ Running around with your kids
❤️Cleaning the house
❤️Decorating
❤️Walking round the supermarket

Don’t under estimate the power! We went sledding for our ‘workout’ the other evening, and it was AWESOME.

Seriously, don’t miss out on 95% of your life to weigh 5% less. Chances are, stressing less, eating enough to keep your morale high and activity levels high will get you better, more sustainable results in the long run!

If you need help with what that looks like for you, I’m always here 💪🏻🥰

This is my client, Steve.

Steve decided he wanted to do 15 full press ups last week. He was pretty nervous.

Steve did 40 press ups today.

Yeah, 40!! 🙌🏻

I am so proud of you! And all of my fantastic 8 weekers who really are taking these next 8 weeks to change their lives. FOR GOOD!

We have 8 weeks together, but we are learning there are no quick fixes and implementing healthy habits into our daily routines.

Fantastic work, you legends!

Don’t wait til you’ve lost weight to live your life!

Do you ever find yourself thinking that you’ll give something a go when you’re a little slimmer?

Maybe you even wait to book holidays, sign up for races, try new experiences until you look better in the swimsuit/running shorts/wetsuit?!?!

Please don’t! You only have one life and one body! Embrace it and love it as it is NOW!

Some happy clients this week ❤️🙌🏻

Just a friendly reminder that motivation is bu****it. Motivation can leave you any time (believe me, it leaves me to). What matters is consistent, imperfect action.

Act your way into feeling motivated today! And if you need help getting there, I can help.
