This Christmas Eve, we are extremely thankful to everyone who helped bring the festive spirit into the Hospice for our patients, their families, and our staff. 🎄

Bringing Christmas to our In-patient Unit is so important for those spending the season with us, allowing families to continue making precious memories together at a special time of year.

We would like to thank everyone who came into Rowans Hospice this winter to spread kindness and love, from choirs singing Christmas carols to our patients, to present donations, brass bands playing, ukulele groups strumming, Amazon Wishlist items arriving, Santa’s donkey, and even some piglets who came to visit our patients.

On behalf of everyone at Rowans Hospice, thank you. 💚

Help us ensure that every family has the opportunity to share a cuddle during the most difficult of times. Gift a Cuddle This Christmas. ✨

With only three cuddle beds for sixteen rooms, we dream of a time when no one has to say goodbye from a distance.

Each of these beds costs £15,000 and your donation could help us bring families closer, turning a lonely night into a moment of love and comfort.

We would like to say a heartfelt thank you to KRP Developments, who reached out to us to offer their support.

The team at KRP Developments donated enough presents for all the patient who will be here at the Hospice on Christmas day. The gifts included puzzle books, chocolates and fruit baskets for our family area, and fidget toys for the children being supported by our Meerkat Service.

We are incredibly grateful for their support and look forward to continuing this partnership in 2026.

Thank you KRP Development 💚

Remember someone special with Light Up a Life.

Light Up a Life is an annual celebration of loved ones who are no longer with us, observed by hospices across the UK during the festive period. At Rowans Hospice, we celebrate Light Up a Life through our Lake of Lights event, that took place at Canoe Lake in Southsea on Sunday, 14 December 2025.

If you were unable to join us on the night, you can make a dedication on our Light Up a Life Dedication Wall. If you can donate to Rowans Hospice at the same time, it would be very much appreciated. All donations, large and small, make a difference to the Hospice.

Make your dedication our memory wall - https://buff.ly/3CQXkwQ

This Thursday, we would like to say a huge thank you to Chris Short for completing his 1000-mile bike ride from Land’s End to John O’ Groats in support of Rowans Hospice.

Chris had originally set a fundraising target of £500 to raise for Rowans Hospice but smashed his goal with reaching an incredible total of £7,110! Having suffered with Crohn’s Disease for over 25 years, endured 14 operations and with a permanent Stoma bag since 2022, Chris said:

“If the ride wasn’t challenging enough, it would be even harder dealing with the issues that come with Crohn’s and dealing with a Stoma”

We are all so very grateful for Chris’s wonderful achievements and the support that he has given to us. Thank you. 💚

It was incredibly moving to see over 4,000 of our supporters coming together to remember their loved ones. Thanks to everyone, the evening raised an incredible £15,000 for the Hospice. 💚

We would like to say a special thank you our volunteers who gave us their precious time to help us make it happen, to the and Lisa Marie for her beautiful singing, and to AJ Wheeler for sponsoring the programmes.

If you would like to remember someone special and could not attend the Lake of Lights, you can leave a dedication on our Memory Wall here- https://rowanshospice.light-up-a-life.org/
