Telling the children we were pregnant was so magical. Something the girls had wished for over and over. But most of all sharing my pregnancy with them was truly magical. Every one of them in different ways. Talking to the bump, singing to it, stroking and hugging. So sweet ❤️ I felt held and loved though my whole pregnancy by my babies. ❤️

Or so it’s called, they call it morning sickness but it comes anytime of the day. Morning, day or night. This photo was the only photo that day due to me throwing up and feeding the fish the whole day. Boats and pregnancy sickness do not mix. You can try home remedies, sickness medicine but nothing worked for me. Since being so sick I no longer eat chicken even to this day as can’t stomach it. Some people get pregnancy sickness in the first trimester and some all the way through. I stopped around 20 ish weeks. Sick came without warning so I carried bags with me incase. Sickness is thought to be caused by a rise in hormones, heightened sensitivity to smells doesn’t help. More extreme cases, known as hyperemesis gravidarum May need medical attention. Ice tea definitely got me through this stage.

Pop belly stage- we all go though that part where we don’t really look pregnant yet but look like we have eaten to much cake. Soon as we eat we feel bloated don’t feel great. Properly still in the sickness stage them early few months. Trying to hide my pregnancy wasn’t going to be much longer. When did you tell people?

Finding out I was pregnant weeks before we set to backpack around Thailand was a little worrying. I ensured I was fully covered in every way I could. Using essential oils. Vitamins and being careful in what I was eating and drinking were my priority. In this photo I was 14 weeks pregnant but the children were not aware yet. When in the water the fish surrounded me. It was crazy I’m convinced they could sense I was pregnant. It felt so magical.

Finding out I was pregnant with our 5th baby was quite a shock. We hadn’t planned to have any more babies. I planned to share my birth journey with you and how I was feeling. I really struggled at first as I was so sick so I didn’t share much and found it hard hiding my pregnancy so that our other children didn’t find out though the grape vine. We wanted to wait until half way so that it wasn’t such a long wait for them. I will start from the beginning.

Urine tests- used during pregnancy to check for diabetes, UTI’s, Preeclampsia, kidney function, dehydration and other health conditions. Is it sad that I got excited today because finally a funnel is provided to p*e into a test tube. It’s the little things lol. How were we ever ment to aim in that tiny hole all while making it around our growing bumps? If a funnel is not provided using a sterile cup could help. Or waiting until mid flow so you have a better aim at collecting it. Struggling to get a sample as you went before leaving home so not to get caught short? Try drinking more while waiting it can take 15-20 mins to refill your bladder if you are hydrated enough. Rocking side to side and back and forth on the toilet allowing any extra out.

A beautiful baby, A strong birth partner and amazing mum. A birth I was lucky to support with their 3rd baby. Passing on evidence based information allowing this family to make informed choices. Creating a birth plan to avoid unwanted intervention. Supporting them to advocate for them selfs.

Birth is beautiful. Make your birth yours. Make a birth plan. Every situation can be planned for so no matter what happens during labour we ensure its a positive one. Feeling in control in every situation. Feeling empowered, supported and loved can make a huge difference. Your body, your birth, your baby. Make the choice yours.
