Menopause can be a time when we look after ourselves, becoming fitter and healthier in mind and body.

I believe self-care is an important tool to re-energise ourselves, being aware of how we are and finding ways in how to make ourselves better so we can look after and be there for others as well as ourselves.

Self-care can be part of how we accept ourselves and can be tied in with our self-worth and how we value ourselves.

I wonder how do you practise self-care?

Take care, Paula

It world voice day this week.

More and more of the people I work with become their own self-coach and say they are finding their voice and using words to be heard. As a result, this is having a positive impact on them and those around them.

If you would like to find out more, I would love to hear from you.

This is something I wish I had known when I had my caesarean sections.

One of the causes of lymphoedema is surgery and can result in the lymphatic system having blockages which blocks the body's natural way of getting rid of fluid and toxins. Instead it gets reabsorbed by the body and can cause swelling, low mood, fatigue and social isolation to name a few.

Simply wearing a compression girdle after you have your baby can aid healing and reduce swelling, along with swimming and light massage.

If you are struggling to lose weight and you notice your tummy is still swollen, see your GP.

If you would like to find more, I would love to hear from you.

Take care, Paula

One of the things we talk about in the Aged 16+ Transitions programme is what people would like others to set aside to cross into their world.

Some of the skills they talk about are listening without judgement, setting aside experiences and agendas to hold the space for when someone is sharing their story. They realise by modelling this can help them to empathise with themselves and others.

I wonder what you do to empathise with yourself and with other people?

Transitioning through menopause, or indeed any life event or change, can be about how we manage ourselves, by becoming consciously aware of how we are, in order to being able to do this. Once we are aware of how we are, we can then access the support and help in order to weather life's storms.

In the coaching room we talk about different tools that can help you to increase your awareness of how you are and structure conversations with loved ones or medics to have your voice heard.

If you would like to know more, I would love to hear from you.

Take care, Paula
