ost dif types MLD
Not all lymphatic drainage is the same… and knowing the difference matters 🪷
There are a few different types of lymphatic options, and each one has its place depending on what your body needs:
✨ Manual Lymphatic Drainage – gentle, rhythmic movements to support your body’s natural detox and reduce puffiness
✨ Vodder Technique – a more structured, clinical approach, developed in the 1930s, it focuses on stretching the skin rather than massaging muscles, moving fluid toward lymph nodes.
✨ Post-Op MLD – MY SPECIALTY!essential after surgery to reduce swelling, prevent fibrosis and support healing
✨ Gua Sha / Roller – great for maintenance, however less hands on compared to MLD.
Let me break it down more for you!
With professional hands-on MLD (like what I do), you’re:
• directing flow node to node
• adjusting pressure constantly based on tissue response
• working with specific pathways and rerouting (especially post-op)
• feeling restrictions, congestion, fibrosis starting or any other issues such as seromas!
Whereas with gua sha / rollers:
• they can stimulate movement, which is great, especially for puffy faces!
• but they’re more generalised
• it’s a bit harder to adapt in real time to what’s happening under the skin
• and they’re not suitable for things like post-op care or complex stagnation
That’s why it’s so important to book in with a professional lymphatic specialist who will be able to support you, every step of the way!
