Today saw us well and truly entertained by the King, as Elvis came and gave us an incredible concert with everybody singing along to their favourites and dancing throughout!

Yesterday was the Wimbledon final between Patricia and Bernie. Pat as a former champion and Bernie in her first ever Wimbledon. What followed was quite a match as Bernie and Pat both took their opening games to level the score at 1-1. Bernie then went on to win everything, leaving Pat a bit stunned as the score became 5-1! It was then that Pat decided to fight back and amazingly managed to get the score to 5-4. Bernie then took her serve and decided enough was enough and took the game, the set and the Championship winning 6-4. It was a great match, and nice to see the two best players reach and play in the final

So we have a new Champion!

This last couple of weeks have been chaotic. Our residents have been working so hard preparing everything for Pirate day next week, as well as playing in this year's Wimbledon tournament!

This year has been brilliant yet again, but also with a touch of sadness as all the staff who walked past our champions board have commented on our late undefeated champion, Jean. She won and retained the crown without ever tasting defeat. Everyone has said how much they would like to see her name on the board once more, and for me personally, I will certainly miss seeing her hold what seemed to become "her" trophy. She was a true champion in every sense and will always be remembered each year at this tournament.

This year has once again seen some brilliant matches and some incredible rallies, one of which went over 30 before losing count! As always, both players always decide to congratulate each other with a handshake, showing the sportsmanship that flows through this tournament. At the end of the week we played the semi finals, Mel Vs Patricia and Dianne Vs Bernie. Both were so close, but after a hard fought afternoon we have our finalists.

Can Bernie get her name on the board to join the others or will Pat win a second title? We'll find out next week! Then pirate day........
