TACT Telford

TACT Telford The purpose of the Telford After Care Team is to ensure there is a clear and safe program of recovery options available for people who use substances.

Telford Aftercare Team (TACT) was founded in 2012 and incorporated as a community interest company in 2014. The main aim of TACT is to help people in their on going recovery from using drugs or alcohol. This public health commissioned service was set up for recovering service users and service users who were still struggling to come to terms with their addiction. This is achieved by empowering people to continue their recovery after their substance use. We believe that people can go on to lead a productive and fulfilling life in the community. At present we offer many varied services which aid people in their on going recovery, these include but are not limited to:

•Encouraging people to have their say

•Weekly women’s group which helps women deal with the on going issues which many men do not face, in a safe environment.

• Weekly men's group which helps men to deal with on going issues which many women do not face.

•A weekly service user group which gives our clients an opportunity to feedback about the services available and make a positive impact on how things are run.

• T weekly Dual-Diagnosis group to support people with both mental health issues and issues surrounding addictions.

•Running consultations that feed into the strategic monitoring and planning of local service provision.

•Improving the physical and mental health of the public

•Hepatitis c support group. The group helps people understand the problems that the illness can bring to their lives and offers care and understanding via mutual aid.

•Twice weekly therapeutic art group to help people express their emotions through art and encourage creativity.

•Gardening Group, held weekly to encourage people to be more active and increase positive social networks.

•Peer support

•Facilitate regular mutual aid support groups (Alcoholics Anonymous, Narcotics Anonymous, Smart Recovery)

•Recruit and manage volunteer recovery peer support workers to offer services to the drug and alcohol using communities.

•Housing and benefit/debt advice drop in service.

•Providing support and access to opportunities
•Access to a range of holistic support groups

•Signposting and referrals made to education, training, employment and volunteering opportunities.

Please visit Southwater in Telford between the 29th February and 29th March to view the KNIFE ANGEL.

The Knife Angel is an impressive 27ft tall sculpture made from more than 100,000 knife blades collected by UK police forces. It aims to raise awareness of knife crime in the UK and to help stop people carrying knives.

The Angel was created by the British Ironwork Centre by sculptor Alfie Bradley and is made completely from knives collected as a result of working with police forces and introducing knife amnesties across the country.

The sculpture is dedicated to the victims of knife crime - a number of the blades carry the names of knife crime victims, inscribed by their loved ones.

Supporting this issue is so important and we support it, absolutely.
