NHS App Update
We informed you earlier this month that due to technical issues during the transfer of Luson patients to Wellington Medical Centre, historic medical record access had been temporarily suspended.
We want to reassure you that your medical records have not been lost and are still safely stored in our clinical system, the only thing that has been suspended is your access to this information online.
When patients were due to be transferred from Luson surgery to Wellington Medical Centre, we were informed by our system supplier that Luson patients would continue to have NHS app access, but without any historical medical record access. This was to allow us to ensure the records were appropriately safeguarded prior to access being switched back on. Post transfer we identified that some Luson patients had full access to their medical records, without us having safeguarded them. Therefore, to ensure the safety of patients, our Safeguarding Lead GP along with the Management Team, made the decision to temporarily suspend access to historical medical records online. As there is no way of restricting access to specific groups of patients, we have had to suspend this for all patients.
We are aware this has impacted and continues to impact many patients. and we are sorry for any inconvenience this has caused, but the potential risk of this not being safeguarded is one we have a responsibility to take seriously. We are working with our system supplier, the NHS App and other professionals on this and will update you once we have further information.
The NHS app is still available for ordering your prescriptions, contacting the surgery about a health problem or administration query, and viewing results of tests taken after the 30th September.
Thank you for your patience whilst we continue working to find a resolution.
Kind regards
Wellington Medical Centre
