• 🧠 Mini mental health check-in – pausing to rate your mood and do one small thing that helps
• 🎉 Celebrating a small win – wearing your compression, emptying your bag on time or taking meds all count
• 🍽️ Meal time mindfulness – noticing how different foods affect swelling, digestion or stoma output without judgement
• 🌙 Night-time routine – laying out tomorrow’s compression, clothing and supplies to ease morning stress
• 🩹 Protecting skin around your stoma – checking for redness or soreness and contacting your stoma nurse if needed
• 🦶 At-home leg & foot pamper – a gentle, clinician-approved wash and moisturise (no harsh scrubbing or hot water bottles)

This December, we’ve been focusing on small steps to support your compression, lymphoedema, lipoedema, and ostomy care throughout the festive season. Here's a round-up of week 2:

• 💛 Lipoedema kindness check – your body isn’t the problem; choose comfort and skip the food guilt
• 💧 Hydration helper – keeping a refillable bottle nearby and sipping steadily through the day (unless told otherwise by your clinician)
• 🎒 Travel-ready kit – packing a small “just in case” bag with ostomy supplies, meds and key contacts
• 🤲 Gentle self-massage – using any lymphatic techniques you’ve been shown, or slow deep breathing to unwind
• 🛌 Rest without guilt – honouring fatigue and seeing rest as part of your treatment plan, not a luxury
• 📝 Checking prescriptions – noting what’s working (and what isn’t) so you can discuss it at your next review
• 📞 Asking for help early – contacting your nurse, GP or care team if you notice new pain, swelling, leaks or mood changes

Week 1 of our Wellness Advent Calendar 🎄✨

This December we’ll be focusing on small steps that support your compression, lymphoedema, lipoedema and ostomy care through the festive season. Here's a round-up of week 1:

✅ Checking essentials – making sure you’ve got enough compression, ostomy supplies and skincare

🧦 Refreshing your compression routine – checking the fit and comfort, and asking your clinician if something doesn’t feel right

🚶‍♀️ Adding little movements – ankle pumps, shoulder rolls or a short walk to boost circulation

💧 Giving your skin some TLC – gentle washing, patting dry and moisturising as advised

🦵 Elevating & unwinding – taking 10–15 minutes to rest your legs (if recommended for you)

👗 Choosing festive outfits that still feel kind on swollen areas or around your stoma

📅 Planning ahead for busy days – scheduling “body breaks” to move, stretch, elevate or rest

We understand that living with lymphoedema - or any long-term health condition - can sometimes feel overwhelming. In those moments, hearing from someone who truly understands can make all the difference. Personal stories have the power to comfort, uplift and remind us that we are not alone in our challenges.

Today, we’re sharing the deeply personal and encouraging patient journey of Louise, who has lived with lymphoedema for over 16 years. Her experience began unexpectedly after IVF treatment, when her left leg began to swell. With no clear answers and being told that she “just had a big leg,” Louise was left confused and searching for support and understanding.
