LATEST BLOG POST - PREBIOTIC FOODS FOR POSTBIOTIC ABUNDANCE
Aka, feeding the gut right, to get the best out of it ;-)

Following on from our blog post last year on the friendly commensal gut bacteria (We are what we eat - meet Commensal Gut Microbes), we touched on the importance of feeding specialised prebiotic fibres to feed those commensal bugs. This in turn stimulates the growth of the friendly gut biome colonies, producing the positive knock-on effect of maximising a plentiful production of beneficial metabolites - those hindgut fermentation by-products necessary for the body’s metabolism, aka postbiotics.

With new microbiome evidence hitting the headlines by the day, I think it’s fair to say that we all now pretty much know that a balanced and healthy gut microbiome is essential for optimal immune function, and that the intestinal microbial community - as well as their metabolites - impact the health of the host body system-wide. And when it comes to our horses, supporting those friendly commensal gut microbes via a diverse range of grass species' fibres and prebiotic foods will not only ensure a biome full of friendly bacteria, but also those fermentation by-products, postbiotics, that will guarantee nutritional, metabolic, and immune health benefits.

Autumn and Winter are when two of the EO equine remedies products become invaluable.
The HOT CLOTH OIL for hot ragging the clipped horses, keeps their coats in tip top condition and healthy now rugs are being used.
The new product WITCHES CREAM (story as to why it got that name for another day) this prevents and treats mud fever and leg sores.
I’ve been using it for two years on my own horses, but recently gave some to a friend for use on a shire that was struggling with a sore leg after a feather mite episode. Excellent results in a very short time!
The redness and inflammation subsided straight away, we all know how painful it can be.
It’s a cream that contains anti inflammatory, antimicrobial, & anti parasitic oils so I shouldn’t be surprised that it worked on the feathered legs really. Just pleased it’s found yet another use😊
Adding it to the product list asap x

THE POWER OF PLANTS !
and essential oils in products is amazing
The warm weather means an extended and increased flea and tick issue for some of our animals.
My poor dogs had managed to acquire a nasty flea infestation, joys of country living.
A bath in the lavender and Rosemary worked wonders, shampoo 1 fleas 0 !!
It washed out easily major bonus, coats left shiney and soft.
It I don’t say it myself, I’m impressed

E O HOT CLOTH OIL still showing or starting to clip ?
The hot cloth / hot ragging oil is great for that final polish to lift dirt and grease.
A sq**rt of the product in the hot water for your final rub over on a regular basis, brings the coat up a dream.
Antibacterial and anti microbial oils that are also anti inflammatory, helps the coat and skin stay healthy and keeps the bugs and flies at at bay.
If you have a large yard of horses larger bottles can be made up.

SHAMPOO
Two new products
The orange and peppermint is a refreshing shampoo, and the Lavender & rosemary might just send you to sleep 🤣
I can’t stop sniffing them 🙈
Both are gentle shampoos which will leave the hair soft and shiny.
They will condition as well, but keep your eyes peeled for a de-tangling conditioner and a leave in conditioning cream
