Cannbinoid Gene: Low mood? Binge eating? This gene might have an effect.
Otherwise known as CNR1 (the main gene). This is actually an extremely important Gene. The Cannabinoid system is often referred to as our “control panel”. It is not a coincidence that it is the gene is activated by cannabis. If you do participate in such things, it might not be a bad idea to test your SNP’s for this receptor. You might find that your habit is bad for your brain and could leave you vulnerable to schizophrenia.
However, this receptor has far more value than telling people who smoke cannabis that perhaps they should not. This receptor is concentrated on the brain and gut. Bad variants of this gene (composed of double combinations of the ACTG alleles) could be responsible for any of the following:-
Anxiety
Depressed moods
Brain fog
Food sensitivities
Weight balance
And many other issues
Your CNR1 gene needs to be active to keep your limbic system (controls our survival reactions, such as how we care for the young, our fight or flight response and other behavioural and emotional responses)
The usual response people give when discussing such things as their genetic makeup is that it is what it is and they do not want to know if they have an imbalance. I do not agree! By knowing, and the use of epigenetics, we can tweak our gene responses and change our habits to counter any negative behaviour, allowing us to lead a better and more full filling life. How do we do this? Simply take a DNR test and analyse the results of millions of alleles for all those genes. Every solution we offer is based on research of those exact SNP combinations, so is backed by science. What more could you ask? It takes a few days to a week or so of changed behaviour to improve lives, all without a single drug, or any of the associated side effects! It is, literally, a “No brainer”!
