Our purpose is to ensure that community based healthcare is available to all who need it in the areas we serve. We do this by providing safe and effective care in the community working with patients, their families, professionals and other carers. This page is managed by the Communications Team of the Hertfordshire Community NHS Trust.

Strike action by resident doctors is due to continue until 7am on Wednesday

GP practices will continue to be open as normal during the resident doctors strike. Please continue to attend your GP and dental appointments, unless you are contacted and told otherwise.

Please choose services appropriately during industrial action and help us ensure care is available to patients who need it most.

Use 111 online as the first port of call for health needs, and as ever only using 999 if it is a serious or life-threatening emergency.

Strike action by resident doctors is due to continue over the weekend.

During the strikes, there may be fewer doctors working than usual, and they will need to prioritise life saving care. Less urgent cases may experience longer waits during strikes.

Please choose services appropriately during industrial action and help us ensure care is available to patients who need it most.

✅Use 111 online as the first port of call for health needs, and as ever only using 999 if it is a serious or life-threatening emergency.
✅ Make sure you have enough of your prescribed medications at home.
✅Ensure you have a fully stocked first aid kit.

Did you know 7 in 10 people living with diabetes are of working age? This World Diabetes Day we have encouraged our staff to think about how best to support their colleagues with diabetes.

As an NHS trust we are also dedicated to making sure patients with diabetes in our communities are well and supported in their healthcare journey. Our Diabetic Eye Screening Programme has recently made a video highlighting the importance of getting your eyes checked regularly if you have diabetes: https://youtu.be/DORzWkRIxJQ?si=7Gh5kPqxpr_E7ZNq

We now contact most patients by SMS. Unfortunately some people with an iPhone are experiencing issues accessing our messages in full.

We believe this is because of the latest iPhone/iOS update, which has introduced new security and message-filtering behaviours.

iPhone will automatically remove your access code if the 'Delete After Use' option is turned on.

To view messages in full and prevent your code from disappearing, please check your settings by following these steps:

1. Open Settings
2. Go to General
3. Go to AutoFill & Passwords
4. Under Verification Codes, find 'Delete After Use'
5. Switch this off (toggle should be grey)

We apologise for any inconvenience caused and we appreciate your cooperation.

Winter can be challenging for mental health. Take time to relax, practice mindfulness, and connect with loved ones.

Simple actions like talking to a friend or taking a few moments to meditate can make a significant difference.

At the going down of the sun and in the morning, we will remember them.
