Look what we found in our picture archive from 15 years ago. The then Duchess of Cornwall was visiting a mother and baby clinic in Poundbury, Dorset where instructor John Wilks explained how Bowen can be safely applied to young children.
This reminded us of our contribution to the formation of the Complementary and Natural Healthcare Council (CNHC) supported by the then Prince of Wales.
John attended many meetings of a working group set up by the prince, himself a known advocate of a complementary approach to health. After lengthy and challenging discussions a minimum core curriculum for Bowen therapy was agreed with the other participating schools. This in turn led to the CNHC being set up in 2008; today the council manages a voluntary register of complementary healthcare practitioners from 18 different disciplines including Bowen.
