🥋 8-Week Adult Self-Defence Course – FAQs‼️‼️‼️

❓ Who is the course for?

This course is designed for youth & adults aged 14+ of all fitness levels. You don’t need any previous martial arts experience — just bring an open mind and a willingness to learn.

❓ When does it start?

The 8-week course begins on Tuesday 4th November 2025 at One Mind Martial Arts Academy (Polbeth Industrial Estate, EH55 8TJ).
Classes run once a week for 8 consecutive weeks.

❓ What time are the sessions?

🕒 Classes will run from 7.30pm – 8.30pm each week.
(Please arrive 5–10 minutes early so we can start on time.)

❓ What’s included in the 8-week block?

✅ Practical self-defence skills for real-life situations
✅ Awareness and confidence-building
✅ Escapes from grabs and holds
✅ Basic striking and blocking techniques
✅ Situational drills and mindset training
✅ A friendly and supportive group environment
✅Fitness and strengthening focused on the individuals progression

❓ How much does it cost?

The full 8-week block costs £80.
You’ll pay a £40 deposit online to secure your space, and the remaining £40 is paid at your first class.

❓ How do I book my place?

You can book directly using the QR Code in the poster which goes through to our ClubManager link
Once your deposit is received, your place is confirmed — spaces are limited!

❓ What should I wear?

Comfortable gym clothes (leggings, joggers, t-shirt).
No shoes are needed on the mats, but you can wear clean indoor trainers if preferred.

❓ Do I need to be fit to take part?

Not at all! The sessions are tailored so you can work at your own pace.
Our instructors will guide you through each technique safely and gradually build your confidence.

❓ Will I need to bring anything?

Just a bottle of water, and your remaining £40 balance if it’s your first night.
Everything else is provided — including equipment and friendly guidance!

❓ Who runs the sessions?

The course is run by Master John Edmiston, senior black belt with over 28 years of martial arts experience and certified self-defence instructor.
You’ll be training in a safe, professional, and welcoming environment.

❓ What happens after the 8 weeks?

You’ll have learned solid self-defence fundamentals and built great confidence.
If you enjoy it, you’ll have the option to continue your training with our ongoing adult martial arts programme at OMMA.
