Today we celebrated Doreen’s 100th birthday. To celebrate Doreen’s birthday we took Doreen to Paws and Claws to say hello and have a cuddle with the cats. Doreen also enjoyed a 100th birthday tea party with her friends and was overjoyed to receive a card from the king and Queen. Doreen was born on 4 November 1925 in Lee Green South East London.

Doreen is an only child and has many happy memories from her childhood especially helping her dad to plant and grow vegetables. Doreen left school and went to work in a book shop which had the river Thames flowing under neath the shop Doreen also worked in a school. Doreen loves amateur dramatics and has acted on the stage which is where Doreen met her husband Les. Doreen and Les were married in 1954 and were married for 31 years before Les sadly passed away in 1985. Doreen and Les decided to go for a drive one day in 1962 and came upon a town called Haywards Heath and liked it so much they moved there.

Doreen even persuaded her good friend Lyn to move to Haywards Heath as well. Doreen loves cats and along with some good friends and only £30 in the purse helped to set up Paws and Claws in 1977 a local cat charity that helps to rehome cats.

On Saturday, 18th of October, Martin spent a memorable day at the Amex Stadium in Brighton with his family to watch his favourite football team, Brighton & Hove Albion. It was a special occasion, as Ketan joined him for his very first football match. Although Ketan wasn’t familiar with the rules, he loved the electric atmosphere, the cheering crowd, and the excitement in the stands.

For Martin, the highlight was watching the game alongside his family and proudly seeing his grandson walk onto the pitch as a mascot for Brighton. The experience was made even more perfect when Brighton secured a thrilling 2–1 victory over Newcastle.
