The Tactic Connect team would like to congratulate the British Association for Sport and Law on the success of their conference yesterday at the Royal Automobile Club in London.

We were delighted to work on this event to support with managing speakers, marketing, brochure production and on-the-day event management. The feedback and comments speak for themselves on the quality of speakers, the relevance of topics and the welcoming networking environment. A bumper year for attendee numbers at a stunning venue.

Thank you to all our colleagues at Tactic Connect, Genevieve Gordon-Thomson, Kobe Van Hecke, Charlotte Clark, Tim Talts, Lucinda Wilson and to all the moderators, speakers, and the board at BASL, for working with us to make this a truly memorable event in the sports law calendar.

Tactic Connect Supporting Future Sports Lawyers

We were delighted to support students from Syracuse London to be able to attend the 31st Annual BASL Conference at The Royal Automobile Club yesterday in Pall Mall. Nearly a dozen students, who are the first Sports Law cohort in London, attended the conference thanks to the application to the Ventuolo Fund, which we supported. Our CEO Genevieve Gordon-Thomson, who is also one of their lecturers, was delighted to welcome them in person as Vice-Chair of BASL. Thanks to the Ventuolo Fund and Syracuse University London Program, these students were able to experience the cutting-edge conversations at the forefront of sports law from some incredible speakers.

Thank you to BWH Hotels GB and Woughton House Hotel for hosting the first of our Tactic Connect Ltd Team Away Days.

The team at Woughton House really looked after us with a great stay-over and kept us supplied with refreshments all day yesterday. The Tactic Team spent the day planning future projects and sharing ideas, and discussing future trends in sport, sport law, governance and how best we can support current and future clients.

A fantastic way to set the tone as a team for 2026.

🎮 🕹️ 🥇Thank you to Andrew Nixon and Sheridans for welcoming us to their offices to host the Tactic Connect Masterclass for British Association for Sport and Law Esports: An Update. 🖥️ 🌐 🎧

Andrew took attendees through an overview of the Esports landscape and the rise of esports in the UK, the core game genre. He then went into more details about competitive gaming as an organised format and how it can be categorised as a sport, how the market has consolidated in 2021 after the boom in 2017. The changes in prize money and fan demographics. Discussion around how betting is the largest market and the biggest integrity concern for esports, including the changes in betting companies on shirt sponsorship. Broadcasting rights and how people are used to streaming Esports for free, so there is a gap in broadcasting media rights, as well as broadcasters setting up their own leagues. How sports teams are becoming lifestyle brands, and the creator economy and esports players market themselves and create their own content. Andrew also talked about how the Esports commercial structure differs from that of traditional sports models and that players' transfers and player contracts, including esports unique clauses and Intellectual Property in esports and how it doesn’t exist in traditional sports, and who owns it.

British Down Syndrome Swimming Championships Medals Galore

On the 15th and 16th November 2025, K2 Crawley played host to the fourth British Down Syndrome Swimming Championships. An anticipated record number of entries and overseas athletes racing alongside British swimmers was an impressive showcase of competitive swimming from athletes with Down Syndrome spanning all abilities from novice to international competitors. Tactic Connect CEO Genevieve Gordon-Thomson had the wonderful job of presenting medals to some of the swimmers. It was a fantastic day of celebrating Down Syndrome swimmers, their families, their hard work and their skills in the pool.
