Tactic Connect Supporting BASL PG Cert at Leeds Beckett University

The final modules of the PG Cert at the Carnegie School of Sport, Leeds Beckett University, with BASL got underway on Friday, 24th and Saturday, 25th April. Tactic Connect CEO Genevieve Gordon-Thomson was there in her capacity as the Course leader and BASL Vice-Chair. Genevieve has been instrumental in the design, delivery and implementation of this course. Tactic Educate is just one of our four areas of expertise and focus, supporting our vision and commitment to strive to offer our services, affordably, for all sports.

The two-day in-person teaching experience was split between two options for the final module. Michele Verokken delivered the first part of Option 1 of the final Module, Integrity in Sport module, whilst Richard Barnes delivered the first part of the second option, Sports Participants and the Courts module.
The teaching team and students had a great couple of days, and the weekend concluded with the students coming together and, in two groups, competing in a moot-style exercise with the heading: Integrity Under Pressure: Anti‑Doping, Criminality & the Enhanced Games.

We are delighted to see such a great initiative and collaboration between London Youth Games and the British DanceSport Association to offer more opportunities within London boroughs for junior schools to participate in dance.

The Tactic Connect team have worked hard to deliver this partnership, and the team are looking forward to seeing the result of this support many young people from London to take part in the events planned. A powerful new chapter for young dancers in London.

We are proud to announce a new partnership between the British DanceSport Association and London Youth Games, bringing a pilot dance competition to primary schools across three London boroughs.

This initiative opens the door for younger children to experience the joy of dance, build confidence, and be part of something bigger. Winners will even have the opportunity to perform at the London Youth Games Dance Finals this July.

Together, we are expanding access, strengthening communities, and inspiring the next generation through movement to music.

Commercial Statistics in Sport: Why the United States Still Leads the Way

Kobe Van Hecke, our Trainee Paralegal, takes a look at the differences between commercial statistics in the UK and the United States in our latest blog.

"If you follow sports in both the United States and the United Kingdom, one difference becomes clear fairly quickly: American leagues are far more comfortable talking about the business of sport in public. Attendance figures, television ratings, social media engagement, and franchise valuations are regularly highlighted as part of the story of a league or competition. In the UK, those numbers exist, but they are rarely central to how sport is discussed."

IOC SRY One Time Gene Test. Considerations and Questions, a blog by Tactic Connect Trainee Paralegal Kobe Van Hecke.

The International Olympic Committee’s latest policy on the female category marks one of the clearest shifts we’ve seen in this space for years. From LA 2028 onwards, eligibility for women’s events will be limited to biological females, determined through a one-time SRY gene test. In practical terms, that replaces the IOC’s previous, more flexible framework with a firmer, science-led line.

Your brand’s visual identity works in exactly the same way. Every logo, colour, typeface, and image you put in front of the world is either pulling in the same direction or fighting against itself. Most organisations don't realise how much the latter is costing them.

Online Abuse of Athletes - Part 2

Online abuse is not an unavoidable byproduct of modern sport. It is a cultural and governance issue that requires coordinated action from platforms, governing bodies, clubs, and regulators. If athlete welfare is taken seriously, digital harm cannot be treated as an acceptable cost of visibility or success. If the nature of the crowd has changed, the response to it must change as well.
