April is Bowel Cancer Awareness Month. This month we’re raising awareness about bowel cancer and the importance of early detection.

• Bowel cancer is the fourth most common cancer in the UK
• 1 in 17 men and 1 in 20 women will be diagnosed in their lifetime
• Around 44,000 people are diagnosed with bowel cancer in the UK every year
• More than 2,600 people under 50 are diagnosed each year
• Early diagnosis improves survival rates, with a 90% survival when detected early.

Early detection saves lives and bowel cancer screening can find signs before symptoms develop.

For more information on the screening programme in the UK, click the link below to visit Bowel Cancer UK:

https://www.bowelcanceruk.org.uk/about-bowel-cancer/screening/

But remember, if you notice any unusual or out of the ordinary for you, you don’t need to wait for a routine screening test. Speak to your GP, who will be able to provide an at home test.

As March comes to a close, we still have time to acknowledge Prostate Cancer Awareness Month and raise some awareness.

It is important to note, that most men with early prostate cancer don’t have any signs or symptoms. That’s why it’s important to know about your risk.

Common symptoms can include:
• Needing to urinate more frequently, especially at night
• Difficulty starting urination or a weak flow
• Feeling like your bladder is not fully emptied
• A sudden urge to urinate

As ever, you know your body best, and if something feels off for you, with or without these symptoms, it’s important to speak to a GP. There are a few tests that your GP can do to find out if you have a prostate problem.

You asked, we’ve listened…

Thank you to everyone who has given their feedback on our travel insurance quote and buy process. The overwhelming comment we have received, was asking for the ability to edit any mistakes you made during your medical screening declaration.

So, we are excited to let you know that our inhouse medical screening tool, Protectif, has had an upgrade. As you go through the quote and medical screening process, along with the ability to amend any mistakes made when you are completing your medical screening online, many long-term customers will probably spot a few other enhancements to the customer journey too 😊

The changes that have been made will help make the quote process clearer and more straightforward, helping us better understand your circumstances so you can choose the right cover for your trip.

As ever, we appreciate all your feedback both good and bad, so please keep it coming 😊
