April is Bowel Cancer Awareness Month. This month we’re raising awareness about bowel cancer and the importance of early detection.
• Bowel cancer is the fourth most common cancer in the UK
• 1 in 17 men and 1 in 20 women will be diagnosed in their lifetime
• Around 44,000 people are diagnosed with bowel cancer in the UK every year
• More than 2,600 people under 50 are diagnosed each year
• Early diagnosis improves survival rates, with a 90% survival when detected early.
Early detection saves lives and bowel cancer screening can find signs before symptoms develop.

But remember, if you notice any unusual or out of the ordinary for you, you don’t need to wait for a routine screening test. Speak to your GP, who will be able to provide an at home test.
