Thinking about injectable treatments but worried about bruising?👇

“Will I get a bruise?” is one of the most common questions I get asked by my patients before having an injectable treatment. Bruising is a common side effect, but the good news is that it’s usually temporary and manageable.

Injectables involve needles, and needles pierce blood vessels sometimes, as we have thousands of them. This can lead to a little bruise. It doesn’t happen to everyone; some areas are more prone than others.

While bruising can occur, there are ways to minimise it:

1️⃣ Avoid alcohol: don’t drink alcohol for at least 7 days before a treatment;

2️⃣ Avoid blood-thinning medications before your treatment, like aspirin and ibuprofen;

As for how long bruising lasts, it varies as everyone’s body responds differently, but typically bruises fade within a week or two.

Even with precautions, some bruising might happen. It’s part of the process and will not affect the result of the treatment!

Pregnancy brings a lot of changes to your body, including your skin. While we understand your desire to look and feel your best, your safety and your baby are our top priorities.

Due to limited research on the effects of most aesthetic treatments during pregnancy, we prioritise a cautious approach. This means we’re unable to offer most of our usual treatments until after your little one arrives and you stop breastfeeding.

Want gorgeous, glowing skin but worried about downtime? Polynucleotides are one of the most innovative and exciting treatments on the market.

Polynucleotides are known for their excellent safety profile, but like any injection, your skin might look a bit swollen and red immediately after the treatment. Don’t worry—this typically calms down after a few hours. You might also notice some pin-prick bleeding and warmth in the areas treated. It’s super important to avoid touching the treated area for at least 12 hours to let it heal properly.

Some bruising can happen too, and if the treatment was under your eyes, the swelling may take 2-5 days to fully resolve. Hi, I am Raquel Amado a Facial Aesthetics Practitioner and Trainer at Harley Academy, the UK's largest postgraduate training provider in aesthetic medicine and UK’s first fully-regulated Level 7 qualification.
