Some feelings are just too big for words — and that’s where 𝘀𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝘁𝗿𝗮𝘆 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗮𝗽𝘆 𝗰𝗮𝗻 𝗵𝗲𝗹𝗽.

Lucy is a registered sand tray therapist, offering specialist support through creative play in a safe, nurturing environment.

Sand tray therapy is a gentle, non‑verbal approach that allows children to express emotions, process experiences, and explore their inner world without needing to find the “right words.”

Here’s what these sessions involve:
🏖️ A safe sand tray and miniature figures for symbolic play
👧 Child‑led exploration, with Lucy offering support and observation
📖 Expressing difficult feelings through story, movement, and imagery
💡 Trauma‑informed techniques to make sense of themes that appear in the sand
🌱 A calm, supported space where children can heal and grow

Sand tray therapy can be deeply powerful for children who struggle to talk about big feelings — offering safety, distance, and expression in a way that feels natural.

📞 If you’d like to chat with us about sand tray therapy or any of our one‑to‑one sessions, call 01328 838 847 or email abi.theparachuteproject@gmail.com.

🌙 Bedtime Question to Build Resilience

Naming Hard Moments

“What’s one thing that felt hard today?”
This normalises struggle and teaches children that tough moments don’t define the whole day.
It also builds problem solving and emotional processing.

Follow up with:
• “What helped you get through it?”
• “What do you wish had happened instead?”
Great for ages 3+.

Sometimes young people just need a safe space to pause, breathe, and reset. That’s why we’re proud to offer 𝘁𝗿𝗮𝘂𝗺𝗮‑𝗶𝗻𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗺𝗲𝗱 𝗺𝗶𝗻𝗱𝗳𝘂𝗹𝗻𝗲𝘀𝘀 𝘀𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀 led by Sharon in our beautiful sensory room.

These sessions focus on helping children understand their emotions, let go of stress, and learn regulation strategies that really work.

Here’s what they look like:
🌬️ Guided breathing and grounding techniques
💡 Exploring how stress and worry show up in the body
🌈 Using sensory tools to support nervous system regulation
🧘 Gentle mindfulness practices designed especially for children
🏫 Building coping strategies they can use at home or school

These calming sessions give young people the chance to slow down, reconnect with their bodies, and feel more in control of their day‑to‑day lives.

🌙 Bedtime Question to Build Emotional Awareness

Feeling Seen (or Invisible)

“Tell me about a time today you felt invisible — or really seen.”
This opens the door to conversations about belonging, friendships, and how social moments feel in their body.
It helps children notice when they feel included, excluded, or valued.

Follow up with:
• “What made you feel that way?”
• “How did your body feel when that happened?”
Great for ages 5+

We deliver workshops to classes and small groups in schools. If you are interested about this part of our provision take a look at the school section on our website https://theparachuteproject.co.uk/schools/ or email sarah.theparachuteproject@gmail.com for more information.

𝐒𝐞𝐥𝐟‑𝐄𝐬𝐭𝐞𝐞𝐦 & 𝐒𝐨𝐜𝐢𝐚𝐥 𝐂𝐨𝐧𝐟𝐢𝐝𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐞 𝐒𝐞𝐬𝐬𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬

One of the most common areas we support at The Parachute Project is 𝘀𝗲𝗹𝗳‑𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗲𝗺, 𝘀𝗲𝗹𝗳‑𝘄𝗼𝗿𝘁𝗵, 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝘀𝗼𝗰𝗶𝗮𝗹 𝗰𝗼𝗻𝗳𝗶𝗱𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲.

Here’s how we help young people grow:
✨ Child‑friendly psychoeducation to understand how thoughts and feelings work
🎨 Creative activities, strengths‑based work, and gentle challenges to build confidence
🗣️ Safe, achievable tools for social communication
💭 Rewriting unhelpful internal stories into a kinder, more compassionate voice
🌍 Practising new skills in real‑life situations

These sessions are all about empowering young people to feel good enough, capable, and more confident as they navigate friendships, school, and everyday life.

Don’t just take our word for it — read testimonials from former clients here: https://theparachuteproject.co.uk/feedback/

🌙 Bedtime Question to Build Emotional Intelligence

Bedtime is when kids are most open. Their defences are down. Their day is ending. They’re in their safe space.

This is prime time for connection and teaching emotional skills.

Over the next fortnight we will be posting 6 conversation starters for you to use with your child that take 2 minutes but build emotional intelligence. Beginning with …

The Weather Feelings Question

“If your feelings today were weather, what would they be?”
This simple metaphor helps children describe emotions they don’t yet have words for — stormy, sunny, foggy, anything goes.

Try asking:
• “What made it feel that way?”
• “Did the weather change during the day?”
Great for ages 3+
