Well after a glorious summer well spent, Luiza and Holly are ready to welcome you to join the group!

This month we will be talking about preparation (think snacks, protecting carpets and mindset!) and practicalities (how to fill up a birth pool, when to call your doula or midwife and choosing the best snacks).

As always this group is a community offering so is free to attend - however donations are welcome to help us keep the lights on and buy the tea and coffee!

Birth, pregnancy, parenthood educators and enthusiasts are always welcome (and encouraged) and we are looking out for someone to share their homebirth story!

A day week full of awesomeness celebrating Maternal Mental Health. We will be co-hosting the walks along The Strawberry Line. Luiza will be walking Cheddar to Axbridge and Holly will be covering Yatton to Congresbury.

Both walks start at 11.30am and are suitable for buggies, slings and toddlers. Everyone is welcome 🤗

Are you considering a home birth or simply curious about your birth options? We’d love to invite you to our free Home Birth Group on Sunday, April 27th, 2025, where we’ll be exploring the topic: “Practicalities in a home birth setting”

This is a warm, welcoming space for expectant families to learn more about home birth, connect with others on a similar journey, and ask any questions you may have.

Whether you’re planning a home birth, undecided, or just want to explore your options, this session will provide insight, support, and evidence-based information to help you make an informed choice.

What We’ll Cover:
What do you ACTUALLY need for your home birth?
In this session, we’ll discuss:

✔ Birth Pool set up
✔ Setting the scene for your home birth
✔ What kind of space to the midwives need?
✔ Birthing outside of water
✔ The role of midwives and birth partners in a home birth setting.

Frequently Asked Questions About Home Birth
Here are some common questions we’ll be addressing:

1. Is home birth safe?

2. What if something goes wrong?

3. Will I need lots of special equipment?

4. What about pain relief?

5. Can my other children be present?

How to Join
The Home Birth Group is free to attend (donations are welcome), but spaces are limited. If you’d like to join us, please register in advance to secure your spot.

🌺Introducing the new Orchid Homebirth Team - Launching 7th April 2025! 🌺

The team will be based from Musgrove Park Hospital. For more information email OrchidHomebirthTeam@somersetft.nhs.uk or speak to your community midwife. You can decide to have a homebirth at any point in your pregnancy!
