Broadway Lodge

Broadway Lodge Compassion infused, person centred, abstinence-based residential treatment centre for addiction. Transforming lives since 1974.

Addiction is an illness, not a choice. But the good news is that with the right support, addiction is treatable. As the UK’s most experienced abstinence-based rehabilitation centre, we understand addiction and how to treat it. We’re here to work with clients so they can live happy and fulfilling lives. We can help people who have an addiction to:

• Alcohol
• Illicit drugs
• Prescription drugs
• Gambling
• Sex
• Gaming
• Co-dependency

We provide inpatient medically-managed detoxification for people with an addiction to alcohol, opiates, benzodiazepines and prescribed medication. Clients who detox with us are allocated a twin en-suite room in our on-site medical unit which is staffed 24/7 by our specialist nurses. There is a gentle therapeutic programme alongside the detox. Once the detox is completed (if required), clients can immerse themselves into the full, comprehensive therapeutic programme. This is where real change starts to happen. They work with counsellors and their peers to understand their addiction and address the root cause so they can develop healthy coping mechanisms and the tools to sustain their recovery. They will also address other presenting issues and improve their emotional, mental and spiritual wellbeing as well as self-worth. We can support people who have dual diagnosis where another condition co-exists alongside their addiction such as anxiety and depression. Please Note:

Men’s Mental Health Awareness Month 💙

At Broadway Lodge, we’re taking this opportunity to shine a light on the importance of men talking about their mental health. Too many suffer in silence, but reaching out for support can be life-changing.

Our post shares practical ideas and inspiration to help men nurture their own wellbeing and encourage others to open up.

We also wanted to provide some valuable links to some amazing mental health organisations:

🔹 Talk Club – A safe community for men to talk and listen. Ask yourself: “How are you? Out of 10?” - https://talkclub.org/
🔹 NHS Talking Therapies – Free, confidential support for anxiety and depression: https://www.nhs.uk/nhs-services/mental-health-services/find-nhs-talking-therapies-for-anxiety-and-depression/
🔹 Samaritans – 24/7 emotional support for anyone struggling to cope. Call 116 123, or visit their website https://www.samaritans.org/
🔹 Shout 85258 – Free 24/7 text support for anyone feeling anxious, low, or overwhelmed. https://giveusashout.org/
🔹 Mind – Comprehensive advice, information, and helplines for those navigating mental health challenges. https://www.mind.org.uk/
🔹 Mental Health Foundation – A great resource for further organisations offering support and guidance. https://www.mentalhealth.org.uk/

We hope this reminds you that support is always within reach. 💚

When a loved one struggles with addiction, children often feel scared, angry, or even responsible. Without clear explanations, they may believe they’ve done something wrong,or that they’re not loved.

Open, honest conversations can help. By explaining addiction as an illness, we help children understand that their loved one’s actions are symptoms of a disease, not a reflection of love.

There’s no need for a perfect talk, just create an environment where a child feels safe to share their feelings and ask questions. That’s where healing begins.

At Broadway Lodge, our Family Programme supports families to rebuild trust, understanding, and hope...together. 💚

As a charity, we have a board of trustees and these people are: Ann, Caroline, Cate, Chris, Colin, Paul, Peter and Stephen, who is also the chair of trustees. They have a really important governance role at Broadway Lodge, primarily ensuring that everything we are doing is achieving the purpose of what we were set up for – to return lives addiction has taken away.

Our eight trustees each bring a wealth of experience in different specialisms and some are in recovery themselves. They support our management team with both big and small decisions and help to ensure the Broadway Lodge ship is always steered in the right direction.

The time each month that they dedicate to Broadway Lodge, which is all volunteered time, as well as their passion for what we do here is invaluable. So we’d like to shine a spotlight on these wonderful individuals this , to show how appreciated they are. Thank you all so much 🙏

We were delighted to welcome International Trauma Trainer and award-winning Psychotherapist, Lou Lebentz (third left), to Broadway Lodge this week.

Over the course of three days, Lou delivered engaging and insightful Trauma Informed Care training to our team and several of our trustees. The sessions have deepened our understanding of trauma and further enhanced our ability to support and treat clients who carry the impact of traumatic experiences 🌿

Discussing addiction with children requires an honest, age-appropriate approach that frames it as a treatable illness, not a moral failing. 💚🩵

Reassuring children that they are not to blame and are loved unconditionally is essential for their wellbeing and helps reduce feelings of fear and guilt.

Our latest blog post offers guidance on how to navigate these sensitive conversations, helping you support the children in your life with compassion and clarity: 🔗 www.broadwaylodge.org.uk/blog/how-to-talk-to-children-about-addiction/

Our Story

Transforming Lives Since 1974.

We know it’s not everyone’s idea of a fun trip away. But as the UK’s most experienced abstinence-based addiction treatment centre, we understand addiction and how to treat it. We’re here to work with clients so they can leave with the tools to be able to live a happy and fulfilling life.

Since 1974 our multi-disciplined team have helped to transform the lives of 15,000 people, supporting them in their recovery from addictions to alcohol, illicit and prescription drugs, gambling, s*x and gaming.

As well as treatment primarily for addiction, we can support those who have a dual diagnosis where another condition co-exists alongside their addiction such as an eating disorder, anxiety, depression, borderline personality disorder, post-traumatic stress disorder and attention deficit hyperactivity disorder.
