My client first came to see me for a Trichology appointment in November 2024, after noticing sudden and severe hair shedding.
We discussed her complex medical history — including Aplastic Anaemia and a bone marrow transplant in 2023.
Despite stable blood results and no nutritional deficiencies, her shedding continued. Unfortunately, her GP and Oncologist were unable to offer support or insight into her sudden hair loss. Because of this, she sought my advice as a Trichologist. After identifying Alopecia, I was able to access the expertise of BAHRS members and refer her to a private Dermatologist for further investigation.
She was subsequently diagnosed with Alopecia Universalis (AU) — the most advanced form of the condition — likely triggered by changes to her immunosuppressant medication following her bone marrow transplant.
It was a devastating diagnosis, but she followed my recommendations and began a treatment plan under her Dermatologist’s care with my continued support throughout.
Fast forward to today — and her results are nothing short of amazing. 🙌
