It was a ❄️Festive Friday evening last week for resident Maggie as we beared the winter evening weather with a trip out to a Wreath making workshop St Georges Community Centre . What a beautiful variety of natural beauty to choose from to make each wreath unique & beautiful.
Mince pies & mulled cider was a wonderful winter warmer for Maggie before having a perusal around the festive Christmas Market.
It is most definitely beginning to feel a lot like Christmas here St Georges Nursing Home 🎄❄️💙

Today was our fundraising walk for A Bear Named Buttony…. raising Awareness and fundraising for this wonderful charity 🩷
As we all know things can divert off plan and today our fundraising walk took place indoors rather than outdoors due to the unpredictable weather. Isla -Rose , our wonderful volunteer Carolina who also has a stoma , residents, staff, & family members all joined us for the fundraising walk . Isla-Rose daughter of Kelly a member of our housekeeping team spent the day at St Georges with residents & friends . What a amazing journey this little bundle of fun has had throughout her 5 years and today she spread her vibrancy and energy throughout the home . It really was a day of pure sunshine St Georges Nursing Home ☀️
There is still time to donate just click below & reference Isla-Rose with the donation ⭐️💛⭐️💛⭐️🌞

It was a thrilling Thursday here at St Georges Nursing Home as resident enjoyed an afternoon of crafts with the children from St Georges Church School and Nursery, Weston-super-Mare. A wonderful afternoon of memory making & happiness 🤗

Intergenerational relationships bringing older and younger people together brings pure happiness to so many & is something we strive to grow and grow here at St Georges .

Today both children & residents created kindness hearts on World Kindness Day ❤️🩷 to add to our chain of kindness while creating more special memories along the way. It is always a pleasure to have a visit from the children who in residents words are “So well Behaved & have “Impeccable manners” .
We are already all looking forward to another visit in the near future from the school & of course our trip to the school for the Christmas Nativity ❤️

Wellbeing was the way forward today at St Georges Nursing Home as we embraced
“Anti- Bulling Awareness Week” Bullying can be experienced in any setting and at any age so awareness and prevention is the way forward…
Our Wednesday started with a visit from Marie's Fitness Classes, where 100 year old Phyllis’s became Maries assistant for the session! Showing that age is just a number! Marie embraced the Anti Bullying campaign by encouraging residents to hold up various messages about kindness….

Our afternoon was filled to the brim as we welcomed back Priory Community School Academy Head Chef Richard as always pulled out all the stop with a fabulous cooking demonstration and while the buns were cooking, Residents & students chatted about bullying throughout the years and the impact it can have.
Residents , staff & students then wrote kind messages on strips of paper which shall be linked together to form a large chain, symbolizing a united front against bullying.
With another school visit on the cards this week the chain shall continue to grow. Once the kindness cards were finished the
Buns were at the ready for students , residents & staff to decorate !
What fun with buns we had here at St Georges today 👨‍🍳🥮👁️‍🗨️☺️🫶

🌺 Remembrance Day 🌺 at St Georges Nursing Home. Today was all about being grateful & remembering the good times & the survivors as well as the sad times and the loss. Residents spent the morning creating beautiful Remembrance jars & hearts for loved ones who served and the loved ones who were lost. These were hung on our Remembrance tree as the home fell silent at 11am 🌺

Our afternoon was a beautiful on with a visit from The D-Day Dollies. The songs brought tears of sadness and happiness while the friendship and warmth was in abundance “ We will remember them “🌺

Today was a day for the “Whisk Takers” at St Georges Nursing Home as residents, volunteers and the activities team got busy making traditional bread puddings for our Remembrance afternoon tea tomorrow. So many memories shared about recipes and how bread pudding was a treat back in the day due to rationing.

We love to mix it up so our afternoon embraced 💙🍪The Cookie Monster. Very fitting as it National Sesame Street Day….. residents and families enjoyed a variety of tasty cookies and an afternoon of quizzes and word games … crowning Rosie the Cookie Monster Quiz Master.

Another day of variety here at St Georges 🍪💙🧐👑

🌺 Remembrance Sunday 🌺

For the past week all at St Georges Nursing Home have been paying tributes to those that have served and continue to serve our Country. Resident’s have been hard at work making various poppies and helping to decorate the home and will continue to do so until Tuesday 11/11.

Earlier in the week a visit to the Worle War Memorial to pay tributes to those that had fallen while serving our country was made while today on 🌺 Remembrance Sunday 🌺residents attended the St Martins War Memorial Service. Scouts & Cubs opened the service with a march followed by a service attended by those who have served and continue to serve the country.

95 year old Michael who lost his Uncle just two weeks prior the end of the war found the service very poignant and to see his Uncle Ernests name on the War Memorial Plaque was a very special moment.
It was so touching to see so many come out and pay their respects to all those who have served and lost their lives in conflict.

Each household within the home broadcast the BBC London Cenotaph service & honoured the 2 minutes silence .

Another project that has been in progress was a Remembrance blanket . Volunteer Diane has hand crafted the beautiful blanket while each residents name and resident made poppies have been added to the blanket.
The Remembrance blanket took pride of place today in the home & will be cherished & brought out each year on Remembrance Sunday 🌺

We shall not forget 🌺

About St. Georges Nursing Home

At St Georges Nursing Home we strive to provide the highest level of care in a comfortable and safe environment.

The home is purpose built and was completed in 2012. Accommodation is provided over two floors and is furnished to the highest standard.

Our experienced staff take pride in providing our residents with holistic care, taking into account everyone’s individuality and diversity. The combination of committed staff and our purpose built home-from-home, makes us the ideal choice for those seeking care for themselves or a loved one.

When we say home-from-home, we mean it. Our home is based around four households, each with their own kitchen/dining room. We cook together, eat together and play together, meaning that our residents can be as involved in the daily life of the home for as long as they are willing or able to.
