When our bodies begin to change at midlife it may come as a bit of a shock! Aches and pains, wrinkles and stiff joints, curves appear in unexpected places. We might seek external advice and are often met with rhetoric about anti-ageing and weight loss, usually by someone trying to shame us into buying an expensive product. Why wouldn’t we become self-conscious about how we look when our body doesn’t represent the youthful ideal?
What if there was a movement space that normalised these changes, worked in harmony with them rather than fabricating guilt or embarrassment? You’re still you, just in a body that is transforming.
Based on over 20 years experience, I specialise in gentle yoga for those in curvy, ageing, and inflexible bodies at midlife and beyond making it not just accessible, but comfortable and illuminating.
As a teacher at midlife myself, I manage my own osteoarthritis and osteopenia, adapting as it varies throughout the seasons. Students witness firsthand how I myself honour my own changing needs with gentle movement and props. But my classes aren’t about you imitating me; they’re about you discovering your own variations of movement and breathwork creating an environment that normalises and celebrates our individuality.
