🦉✨ What a wonderful day at Ashfield! ✨🦉

Today we were delighted to welcome Harrogate Birds of Prey & Creature Cave to Ashfield, and it truly was a fantastic experience for everyone involved.

Our residents absolutely loved meeting all the amazing animals, from the beautiful owls to the fascinating creatures that visited us. There was so much excitement, with lots of great questions asked – the team are incredibly knowledgeable and made the session both fun and informative.

One resident summed it up perfectly, saying:
💬 “I love all the animals, especially the furry ones.”

A member of staff also shared:
💬 “It’s so nice to see the residents enjoying themselves.”

Everyone really enjoyed having the owls and animals come in today, and it was lovely to see so many smiling faces and curious minds. Thank you to Harrogate Birds of Prey & Creature Cave for such a memorable visit – we can’t wait to welcome you back! 🦎🦉💛

🥛🧈 Today’s Group Activity – Homemade Butter! 🧈🥛

Today we had lots of fun during our group activity as we had a go at making homemade butter! There was plenty of laughter, cheering, and encouragement, and everyone really enjoyed getting involved in their own way.

The activity was great for promoting social interaction, teamwork, gentle physical movement, and sensory engagement — all while having a good giggle together. One staff member even joked, “Making butter is a right workout but so fun!” 💪😄

A resident was already thinking ahead and said they wanted to try some “with some nice bread,” which just shows how much the activity was enjoyed and how proud everyone felt of what was made.

A lovely, fun-filled session that brought everyone together 💛

Last Friday at Ashfield, we spent some lovely time baking with our residents 🧁🍰
It was wonderful to see how much everyone enjoyed getting involved, from mixing ingredients to sharing memories of cooking at home. Activities like this bring so many benefits — boosting confidence, encouraging conversation, and most importantly, putting smiles on faces.

One resident told us, “I’ve always loved cooking and baking, and I really enjoyed myself.”

A member of staff also shared, “It was so nice seeing the residents doing something they used to love doing before they needed more care.”

Moments like these truly remind us how meaningful simple activities can be 💙

Today, some Ashfield residents took a moment to welcome the new year by setting personal resolutions. It was a day of quiet reflection and hopeful beginnings. Here’s to small steps, positive change, and a great year ahead for our home. 🎉

One staff member shared how special the moment felt, saying “It’s lovely to see the residents making resolutions and thinking positively about their future.”
