Here's my recommended bedtime checklist for babies and toddlers.
I speak with parents every week and each time we always discuss bedtime. What they do, how long it takes, how their little one reacts at this time.
In order to achieve a confident sleeper that enjoys being in their bed, we need to look closely at what we do before bed.
Remember, overnight sleep is where they'll spend a long time away from you, so it is a sort of goodbye see you soon.
I recommend a consistent routine that feels familiar, it signals to your little one that it's bedtime and they should start to wind down as the bedtime routine begins.
Ensure all of the above are completed in your routine, plus this additional task I get all parents to do.
β‘οΈ Where you can, encourage settling to sleep IN the place you want them to sleep all night.
That might mean sitting at the cot, lying next to their bed or cuddling them in that space. But getting them to fall asleep there, really helps reduce any confusion if they wake overnight.
Do you do this? What are your thoughts?
