Great news!
It’s about blooming time📣
From next year, menopause screening will be offered as part of NHS health checks in England - for the first time.
Checks will be offered every five years to those aged 40-74 and will ask women about menopause and possible symptoms.
"Women have been suffering in silence for far too long and haven't been encouraged to open up about the symptoms they're experiencing," said Health Secretary Wes Streeting.
"This often means they're left to navigate menopause alone with very little support. No-one should have to grit their teeth and just get on with what can be debilitating symptoms or be told that it's simply part of life."
At Women in Sport, we know long-term engagement with sport can be transformational when it comes to women’s health in midlife and later life.
If the government wants to harness the preventative power of sport and physical activity, it must be at the centre of their health strategy.
