Friary Care came together for Armistice Day.
Armistice Day (also known as Remembrance Day) was observed by everyone here at Friary Care as we want to show our sombre respect and gratitude for the countless many who sacrificed so much in conflicts across the world.
To mark this occasion we have been proudly displaying our poppies and have decorated the homes to suit. Our decorations included a dress of poppies to symbolise the sacrifices both men and women have made over the years, and also pictures of poppies in our hands to symbolise how close those brave souls are to our residents. This year we're also proudly displaying and wearing forget-me-nots, on top of poppies, as forget-me-nots symbolise the sacrifices returning injured soldiers have made - in body, blood, and limb.
As many others did, we had two minutes of silence in order to commemorate all of those valiant souls who will forever be in our hearts. Those who could stand, stood proudly as a sign of respect, and we also raised a glass to all those affected by conflicts, and in particular we saluted those who have been, or still are, in our care.
We then enjoyed a wonderful afternoon full of music by the wonderful Olivia.
