I started noticing something new in clinic…

More and more people are losing weight quickly with injections such as Mounjaro. The results can be fantastic and many people feel motivated to get active again.

But we’re also starting to see a pattern.

People are returning to activity feeling lighter and more mobile — but sometimes their muscles and support systems haven’t caught up yet, which can lead to niggles and injuries.

Rapid weight loss can improve mobility quickly — but strength often needs rebuilding.

I’ve written a short blog about what we’re seeing in clinic and how to return to activity safely after rapid weight loss.

Runners tend to fall into a few categories when marathon training starts.

Which one are you?

Runner A
Builds a slow steady base through winter.
Gradually increases mileage before starting a plan.

Runner B
Finds a 16-week marathon plan online and jumps straight in.

Runner C
Just runs how they feel and hopes for the best.

Runner D
Does loads of cross training and strength alongside running.

We are so lucky to have a local emergency department. Once there was talk about it moving to Poole. Thank goodness common sense prevailed. We should strive to do everything we can to support the good work of our local ED. It’s an invaluable service.

Weymouth & Portland women — this one’s for you.

That photo of me paddling past Durlston?
I’m in my 40s. I’m in the menopause transition.

And I see this every week in clinic.

Women who are active, capable, getting on with life — and suddenly dealing with:

• Frozen shoulder
• Tendon pain that won’t shift
• Stiff, aching joints
• Slower recovery
• Strength that feels like it’s disappearing

It’s not that you’re “ageing badly.”

It’s hormonal.

Oestrogen affects tendons, ligaments, muscle recovery and even pain sensitivity. When it fluctuates, your body responds differently to load — and if we don’t adjust training or rehab properly, pain lingers.

The good news?

With the right strength work, the right loading strategy, and proper understanding of what’s happening, you can stay strong — whether that’s paddleboarding past Durlston, lifting in the gym, or just wanting to feel like yourself again.
