A month ago a teenage girl came to my clinic with her mum. They went to A&E regarding her very painful ingrown toenail but the only advice they gave was to soak the foot in salty water 🫣 After removal of ingrown spike I applied a tamponade and an active dressing. Few days later when there was no more signs of infection I applied Unibrace mini M. Today we met again for a follow up brace and look at the difference 🤩

In young footballers, toenail injuries can be quite common and painful especially when the toenails are too long.

In the first image, you can see the toenail after an injury, bruised and painful. To relieve the pressure, I drilled a small hole in the nail (shown in the second image) to allow trapped blood to escape, providing immediate pain relief.

After few days the toenail began to come off, I gently removed deattached parts and started a treatment plan to ensure the new toenail grows back quickly and healthy.

Proper care is essential for young athletes to get back on their feet! ⚽👣

"I wear comfortable shoes" – the most common phrase in my clinic .

The shoes are "comfortable"...
but the insole is too narrow.
There's no room for the foot.
The toes are cramped.

At home?

File or pumice stone

The effect?

Recurring calluses.

Corn.

Pain when walking.

The skin doesn't form calluses without reason.

It protects itself from pressure.

Unless we address the cause,

the problem will keep coming back… 🙄👣

I’m excited to share a heartwarming success story from my practice! Last November, a teenage girl came to me with her mom, feeling scared and traumatized after two unsuccessful treatments for her ingrown toenail done by someone else. It took time to build her trust, but once she felt comfortable, I was able to remove a large spike embedded in her nail fold.

I applied the Unibrace Mini M along with a tamponade using Idam soft composite to support her healing. Today marked her final appointment, and seeing her smile was the most rewarding moment!
