The Dispensary

The Dispensary Dispensing good health in Whitby since 2012. A community health initiative based on Skinner Street! The Dispensary is not what you would imagine.
(1)

It’s more than just a health shop; it’s a futurehealth shop. What’s the point of nurturing your body if your job or your environment is making you sick? Or, you feel you have no voice in your community, or you can’t meet with people or take part in activities which you feel give you meaning. Future health is about social, economic and cultural health as well as the purely physical. The Dispensary Dividend:

Everyone who registers with The Dispensary can get a Dispensary Dividend Card or number (if you live outside Whitby) which enables you to earn 5% credit on every purchase you make online or in our shop. You can redeem this credit back against future purchases - so why not make use of it regularly to give yourself some money. Or, save your Dividends over time and treat yourself once in a while! On Sunday we celebrate the incredible care that mothers give – not only human mums, but the many mothers across the animal world who nurture, protect and guide their young with patience and devotion.
Motherhood reminds us of something deeply natural: the instinct to care, to protect life, and to help others grow and thrive. Of course, this care is not given only by mothers – many people, families and communities share in this work of kindness and support.
On Mother’s Day we can take a moment to recognise and honour that spirit of nurturing wherever it appears, in our homes, our communities, and throughout the living world.
It also reminds us of something we can all work towards – a world where care, compassion and kindness shape the way we live. A world where we treat each other, and our animal friends, with respect and understanding.
Wishing a peaceful and grateful Mother’s Day to all those who nurture, support and care for others every day.

As we mark International Women's Day, we’d like to celebrate the wonderful women who help make The Dispensary such a special place. Here's a shout out to Zoe, Alice, Maria, Bernadette and Lucy!
Through their warmth, compassion and commitment to wellbeing, they help create a space where people feel welcome, supported and connected. Together they nurture not only health, but also community, caring for animals & our natural world and a true sense of belonging.
This International Women's Day, we celebrate and thank them, and all the inspiring women who help our community thrive.
