‘I can catch flu from the flu vaccine’

You cannot catch flu from the flu vaccine. The vaccine is created from an inactive version of the virus to help your body build immunity. Some people may experience mild side effects such as a temperature or muscle aches but this is not the flu.

If you’re eligible to receive the flu vaccine, you will receive a text message from us with booking instructions.

Thank you for helping us create a safe winter environment.

🤒 Do you have the flu?

There are things that you can do to help get better from flu more quickly.

🔹 Rest and sleep
🔹 Keep warm
🔹 Take paracetamol or ibuprofen to lower body temperature and soothe aches and pains
🔹 Give paracetamol or ibuprofen to children when distressed or uncomfortable
🔹 Drink plenty of water to avoid dehydration

Ask for an urgent GP appointment or get help from NHS 111 if you, or your child, have symptoms of flu and:
🔹 You're worried about your baby's or child's symptoms
🔹 You're 65 or over
🔹 You're pregnant
🔹 You have a long-term medical condition – for example, diabetes or a condition that affects your heart, lungs, kidneys, brain or nerves
🔹 You have a weakened immune system – for example, because of chemotherapy or HIV
🔹 Your symptoms do not improve after 7 days

You can call 111 from your phone or visit 111.nhs.uk.

It’s important that we all take steps to keep ourselves, our loved ones, and our patients safe from flu and other respiratory illnesses this winter.

One of the simplest and most effective ways to prevent the spread of illness is through regular handwashing or sanitising.

When visiting our practice, please remember to wash or sanitise your hands upon entry. If a sink isn’t available, please use the hand sanitiser station.

Thank you for helping us maintain a healthy and safe environment for everyone this winter.

When you need help, A&E might seem like the obvious choice. But there are many quick and easy ways to get NHS help for non-emergencies.

For urgent medical help, you can access NHS 111 by calling, going online or by using the NHS App.

Get the right care, in the right place, at the right time – and help free-up emergency services for those who need them most this winter.

From 12pm tomorrow (Thursday 4 December), our GP practice team will be taking part in an education and training session. During this time, our practice will be running with reduced capacity.

These sessions help us stay up to date, develop our skills, and continue to provide the best possible care for our patients.

During this time, you will still be able to submit a SystmConnect. If you need to speak to someone, we have Vocare cover in place. Just call the practice on the usual number and you will be redirected.

We will be open from 8.00am on Friday as usual.

We apologise for any inconvenience that this may cause. Thank you for your patience and understanding.
